Cloud-based virtualization environments are adding, expanding, and improving the technology required to support ArcGIS AllSource. This includes GPU resources—either shared or pass-through—just like on-premises environments. Providers such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google, and Oracle have offerings that have the necessary resources to support ArcGIS AllSource. These instance types and offerings provide the ability to use a desktop client or HTML5 browser to access VDI instances that deliver ArcGIS AllSource with the same user experience as a physical workstation.
These products are tested with ArcGIS AllSource and provide a full Windows desktop environment. An important part of cloud virtualization is using an adequate remote display protocol to deliver the server-generated graphics to the user's endpoint. These providers support methods that include using RDP, NICE DCV, HTML5 browsers (based on product or VM or instance type), and Teradici.
