HERE data layers

Point, line, polygon, and table data layers included in the ArcGIS StreetMap Premium standard file geodatabase (.gdb) product from HERE are summarized below. This product is in the GCS_WGS_1984 Geographic Coordinate System using D_WGS_1984 datum. For a full description of layer and table attributes included in each release, download the help ZIP file.

Point layers

Canada FSA Points (CanadaFSAPoints)

This point layer represents the Forward Sortation Areas (FSAs) of Canada. The layer is based on HERE data and the Canada Post file. Coverage includes the 10 provinces and 3 territories of Canada.

Postal layers are only available in the North America releases for the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

City Center POIs (CityPOI)

This point layer contains the names of cities. The location is usually a midpoint of administrative areas, zones, hamlets, and neighbourhoods. This layer is provided for mapping purposes only; it is not intended to be used for analysis.

Distance Markers (DistanceMarkers)

This point layer contains distance markers. Distance Markers is data that models distance markers, such as mile markers or hectometer markers, along the motorway. Distance markers are sequentially numbered markers placed along roads at regular intervals that serve as a reference location on a motorway. This layer is provided for mapping purposes only; it is not intended to be used for analysis.

Highway Exits (Exits)

This point layer contains highway exits. This layer is provided for mapping purposes only; it is not intended to be used for analysis.

Major City Center POIs (MajorCityPOI)

This point layer contains the names of major cities. This layer is provided for mapping purposes only; it is not intended to be used for analysis.

Mexico Postal Code Points (MexicoPostalPoints)

This point layer represents the five-digit postal code areas of Mexico. The first two digits identify the state or part of same.

Postal layers are only available in the North America releases for the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Points of Interest (POI)

This point layer contains the names of POIs. This layer is provided for mapping purposes only; it is not intended to be used for analysis.

Network System Junctions (Routing_ND_Junctions)

This point layer represents points that connect edges of the network dataset and facilitate navigation from one edge to another.

Override Points (Routing_Streets_Override)

This point layer represents connection points indicating where connectivity occurs midspan along the merged line features of the dissolved network dataset, Routing_ND.

USA ZIP5 Points (USAZIP5Points)

This point layer represents delivery-based centroids for the five-digit ZIP Code areas of the United States. The layer is based on HERE data and the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) source files. Coverage includes all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Map Highways (MapHighways)

This line layer represents highways.

Map Major Roads (MapMajorRoads)

This line layer represents major roads.

Map Motorways (MapMotorways)

This line layer represents motorways.

Map Railroad Link (MapRailroadLink)

This line layer represents railroad features. This layer is provided for mapping purposes only; it is not intended to be used for analysis.

Map Water Link (MapWaterLink)

This line layer represents water features. This layer is provided for mapping purposes only; it is not intended to be used for analysis.

One Way Arrows (OneWayArrows)

This line layer represents one-way arrows to show direction of travel on one-way streets.

Turn Restrictions (RestrictedTurns)

This line layer represents restrictions to the route network that are defined based on two or more links.

Streets for network (Routing_Streets)

This line layer represents streets for network routing. This dataset is licensed and requires a license file for access.

Signposts (Signposts)

This line layer contains Sign Text information for roads for network routing.

Streets (Streets)

This line layer represents streets, highways, roads, ramps, and ferries. This dataset includes all navigable links, with their attribution relevant for route calculation and route guidance. In addition, this road network includes transport trucking restrictions and preferred routes, as well as historical traffic data and pedestrian routes. This dataset is licensed and requires a license file for access.

Cartographic Streets (Streetscarto)

This line layer contains linear features that represent cartographic street features. This dataset is licensed and requires a license file for access.

This polygon layer represents administrative areas that are represented as polygons. This layer is provided for mapping purposes only; it is not intended to be used for analysis.

Map Admin Built-up Area (MapAdminBuiltupArea)

This polygon layer represents all built-up area polygons. This layer is provided for mapping purposes only; it is not intended to be used for analysis.

Map Admin Built-Up Area USA (MapAdminBuiltUpAreaUSA)

This polygon layer represents all built-up area polygons in the United States including all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. This layer is provided for mapping purposes only; it is not intended to be used for analysis.

This layer is listed separately from the MapAdminBuiltUpArea above because the attributes are different for the United States than they are for all other countries.

Map Building Area (MapBuildingArea)

This polygon layer represents polygons for buildings (Building Footprints). This layer is provided for mapping purposes only; it is not intended to be used for analysis.

Map Country Area (MapCountryArea)

This polygon layer represents countries.

Map Island Area (MapIslandArea)

This polygon layer represents islands. This layer is provided for mapping purposes only; it is not intended to be used for analysis.

Map Land Area (MapLandArea)

This polygon layer represents land use areas. This layer is provided for mapping purposes only; it is not intended to be used for analysis.

Map Major Water Area (MapMajorWaterArea)

This polygon layer represents major water bodies. This layer is provided for mapping purposes only; it is not intended to be used for analysis.

Map Ocean Area (MapOceanArea)

This polygon layer represents ocean polygons and bays/harbors. This layer is provided for mapping purposes only; it is not intended to be used for analysis.

Map Order1 Area (MapOrder1Area)

This polygon layer represents Order1 Areas.

Map Water Area (MapWaterArea)

This polygon layer represents water bodies. This layer is provided for mapping purposes only; it is not intended to be used for analysis.

Mexico Postal Code Polygons (MexicoPostalPolygons)

This polygon layer represents the five-digit postal code areas of Mexico. The first two digits identify the state or part of same. The postal code polygons are assigned to different types of settlements as the "colonias" (boundaries). Colonia is the smallest administrative area that exists in Mexico.

Time Zone Polygons (TimeZonePolygons)

This polygon layer represents time zone areas.

USA ZIP5 Polygons (USAZIP5Polygons)

This polygon layer represents the five-digit ZIP Code areas of the United States including water holes. Polygonal water features are represented as holes in the postal code polygons if the features are greater than 5 square kilometers. The layer is based on HERE data and the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) source files. Coverage includes all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Abbreviations

This table represents abbreviations for network direction settings.

Map Building Area Feature (MapBuildingAreaFeature)

This table represents building features.

POI Contact (POIContact)

This table provides contact information for a POI. The contact information can be of various types, as indicated by the Contact_Type field. A POI can have multiple entries in the POIContact table, when different contact information is available for the POI.

Profiles (Profiles)

This table represents speed profiles on streets.

Reference Landmarks (Reference_Landmarks)

This table defines visible landmarks to provide natural guidance/enhanced directions at junctions.

Signposts Streets (Signposts_Streets)

This table defines the links involved in Signposts. Each SignPost is defined by a combination of two edges. Therefore, one Signposts entry is defined by two entries in the Signposts Streets layer: one for the From Edge and one for the To Edge. The From Edge ID and To Edge ID involved in the SignPost can be disconnected.

Streets Profiles (Streets_Profiles)

This table represents street profiles on navigable links (road networks).

Streets Road Splits (Streets_RoadSplits)

This table defines where roads split off and fork into multiple streets.

Streets TMC (Streets_TMC)

This table represents navigable links (road networks). The TMC (Traffic Message Channel) coding is a mechanism to connect TMC-based dynamic traffic information to the HERE maps. The TMC codes represent predefined code available in so-called Location Tables. These TMC codes enable cross-referencing between TMC-based traffic messages and HERE map features.

Time Zones (TimeZones)

This table represents time zones.

Z-level Information (ZlevelCrossing)

This table contains Z-level information for coordinate pairs to model a relative stacking order when navigable links are crossing other navigable links, or specific cartographic features (for example, railroads, water). The Z-level information can be used to render the road network correctly when it crosses other map features (for example, this link should be drawn on top of that link).
