Upgrade Workflow Manager Server

The Workflow Manager setup package detects and upgrades an existing installation of Workflow Manager Server. Workflow Manager Server deployments at 11.0 or later can run the Workflow Manager Server setup package and upgrade directly to 12.0.

Upgrading directly from 10.9.X or earlier to Workflow Manager Server 12.0 is not supported. To upgrade to Workflow Manager Server 12.0, upgrade to an interim version first; then upgrade that version to Workflow Manager Server 12.0.

The following table describes the upgrade path based on the starting version of Workflow Manager Server:

To upgrade Workflow Manager Server, complete the following steps:

  1. If you configured local resources for a disconnected deployment, create a backup of the appconfig.json file.
  2. If you are upgrading a high-availability Workflow Manager Server deployment, open ports 13820, 13830, and 13840.
  3. If you are upgrading from Workflow Manager Server 10.9.X or earlier, upgrade to an interim version of Workflow Manager.
    Note:

If you are upgrading from Workflow Manager Server 10.9 or earlier, you must uninstall the Workflow Manager web app from your instance of Portal for ArcGIS. You do not need to uninstall the Workflow Manager web app before upgrading from 10.9.1 or later. The Workflow Manager web app automatically upgrades with ArcGIS Enterprise.

    Caution:

If you are upgrading from Workflow Manager Server 10.9.X or earlier directly to 11.0 or later, you must remove and reconfigure the password in your email notification settings.

  4. Upgrade ArcGIS Enterprise to version 12.0.
  5. Upgrade Workflow Manager Server to version 12.0.
  6. Add properties to the Workflow Manager configuration file as necessary.
  7. Upgrade workflow items.
