Discussion

Users can discuss plan or project scenarios in Urban in the following ways:

  • Public feedback—Comments are visible to everyone.
  • Internal discussions—Comments are only accessible to users with the appropriate permissions.

For both types of discussions, you can configure feedback categories to provide additional context to a comment. To allow public feedback, you must enable public engagement in the data manager. Additionally, you must configure discussions for each plan or project individually. See Allow feedback and discussion to learn more about enabling public feedback and internal discussions for plans and projects.

Manage feedback categories

You can use feedback categories to provide additional context to public feedback or an internal discussion comment. Comments appear in the scene according to their icon defined in the category. To configure feedback categories with a name, icon, and description, complete the following steps:

  1. Open the data manager.
  2. Click Discussion and click Feedback categories.
  3. Click the Configure button at the upper right of the Feedback categories table.

    A dialog box appears.

  4. Click the + Add category button.
  5. Click the New category bar and provide the name, icon, and description of the category.
    • Optionally, click + Add category again and add more feedback categories.
    • Click OK to return to the list of feedback categories.

The feedback category is updated in the Feedback categories table.

To delete a feedback category, click the Configure button to open the dialog box, and click the delete button next to the category name.

Configure public feedback

The ArcGIS Hub annotations layer used for public feedback for plans and projects can be enabled or disabled in the Public engagement section of the General tab. To activate it, complete the following steps:

  1. Open the data manager.
  2. Click Discussion and click Public engagement.
  3. Click Enabled or Disabled.

    • Enabled—Enable or disable the Public engagement option for each plan or project individually.
    • Disabled—No public feedback can be submitted for plans and projects.
