Manage indicators

In the Indicators section of the data manager, you can manage custom indicator data. You can also configure ArcGIS Living Atlas indicator data if the urban model was created based on the USA Default template. ArcGIS Living Atlas indicator data is only available for cities in the United States. For other locations, use the custom indicators in ArcGIS Urban. You can add and edit custom indicators in ArcGIS Urban; you cannot add or edit ArcGIS Living Atlas indicators.

ArcGIS Living Atlas indicators

You cannot add ArcGIS Living Atlas indicators using the data manager. These indicators are only available in Urban if you use the USA Default template when creating a global urban model. You can delete indicators you do not want to appear in the app using the data manager.

Add custom indicators

You can add custom indicators to ArcGIS Urban in the overview and the data manager. Both workflows follow a similar pattern.

To add custom indicators to the data manager, complete the following steps:

  1. Click the Manage button Settings button at the right of the header in the overview.
  2. Click Indicators and click Custom indicators.
  3. Click the Add button.

The Indicator settings dialog box appears.

  4. Provide an indicator name, description, and start and end date (if known) and click OK.

The indicator is added to the Custom indicators table.

  5. Click the more button More and configure the indicator on the Indicator settings dialog box by doing any or all of the following:
    • Edit the name, description, and start and end date, and make the indicator featured on the General tab.
    • Add a web URL, external layers, and a dashboard on the Sources tab. The indicator layers in the web scene must be in the same coordinate system as the urban model, with the exception of noncached layers such as feature layers. See Understanding local and global urban models to learn more.
    • Define which data is displayed together with the indicator on the Options tab.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Note:
    • Style the indicator description with markdown syntax elements. See Description styling to learn more.
    • You can also delete a custom indicator on the Indicator settings dialog box.
