Survey123 supports common security models that are used by ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise. For an overview of the security capabilities available for the ArcGIS platform components, as well as current best practices, see ArcGIS security.
Typically, users sign in by typing a username and password. Some organizations may require users to use alternative sign-in methods that include additional security. Security models supported by Survey123 include the following:
- Built-in authentication—This method requires the user to type an ArcGIS organizational username and password.
- Enterprise logins—For more information, see Set up SAML logins.
- Integrated Windows Authentication (IWA)—For more information, see Use Integrated Windows Authentication.
- Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)—The sign-in method differs based on how PKI secures ArcGIS Enterprise. For web tier authentication, Survey123 supports direct sign in, while for Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) logins, Survey123 supports sign in through a web browser.
- Social logins—For more information, see Configure security settings for ArcGIS Online or Configure security settings for ArcGIS Enterprise.
When typical sign in does not work, signing in via a web browser that is external to Survey123 can be used. This can be used when a PKI with Windows Authentication is required.
