To support guest access to ArcGIS services in Microsoft products, ArcGIS for Power BI uses Microsoft Entra ID to monitor usage levels.
Beginning Release 2026.1, users may choose to enable Entra ID access through Microsoft's consent experience. In the future, if this access is not enabled, ArcGIS for Power BI will be unable to provide guest access beyond limited use.
If you use one of these services in your ArcGIS for Power BI visual as a guest user, you will see a series of messages prompting you to grant permissions to allow the ArcGIS service to access your Microsoft Entra ID.
To grant this permission, complete the following steps:
- Click Allow now on the Access to services message.
Note:
If your tenant administrator has denied consent at the organizational level, you will not be able to continue with this workflow without their permission, and you will receive a message stating Admin assistance required.
- Click Continue on the Grant permission to non-Microsoft visuals and applications message.
- Click Accept on the Permissions requested message.
If you choose not to grant permission for the ArcGIS service to connect to your Microsoft Entra ID, you will be prompted again after 14 days.
Note:
If your tenant administrator has granted consent at the organizational level, individual users cannot revoke it. The Grant permission to non-Microsoft visuals and applications and the Permissions requested messages will not appear.
Enable the Custom Visual SSO option at the tenant level
For any user to grant consent, your Microsoft Fabric tenant administrator must enable the Custom Visual SSO option in their tenant settings.
