ArcGIS for Power BI is deployed as core visualization in Microsoft Power BI Desktop and the Power BI service (powerbi.com). For ArcGIS for Power BI to operate properly, Esri assumes an operational configuration of these applications. Esri tests ArcGIS for Power BI only in software environments certified as supported by Microsoft Power BI; not all Power BI-supported environments have been tested or certified.

*To use ArcGIS for Power BI with ArcGIS Enterprise, you must configure older versions of Microsoft Edge (pre-Chromium) browsers to allow the app to run properly. ArcGIS for Power BI requires internet access; it does not operate in a disconnected environment.
Note:
In mobile environments, you can view maps created using an ArcGIS for Power BI Standard user account included with Power BI. Maps that contain premium content from ArcGIS are not supported in mobile environments.
WebGL requirements
The latest versions of the most common desktop browsers have built-in WebGL. To test whether your browser has WebGL enabled, open get.webgl.org. To troubleshoot WebGL-related issues, visit WebGL troubleshooting. Ensure that you keep your browser up to date, as WebGL is an evolving technology and each browser version brings improvements that ArcGIS for Power BI implements to maintain optimal performance.

ArcGIS accounts
In order for users to access private, secure content from ArcGIS, they must sign in using an ArcGIS organizational account that has been assigned the appropriate user type and role by the ArcGIS administrator.
It is assumed that the authentication method used to access the ArcGIS platform has been properly configured by the ArcGIS administrator. ArcGIS public accounts are not supported.
ArcGIS for Power BI supports the following ArcGIS versions:
- ArcGIS Online current version
- ArcGIS Enterprise 10.7.1 and later*
*This version of ArcGIS for Power BI supports versions 10.7.1 and later of ArcGIS Enterprise in an online environment only. ArcGIS for Power BI does not operate in a disconnected environment.
Authentication methods
ArcGIS for Power BI supports built-in authentication methods when using ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise in Power BI and Power BI Desktop in an online environment.
ArcGIS administrators can configure the ArcGIS Online sign-in page to show only the OpenID Connect login or the OpenID Connect login along with any of the following options: ArcGIS login, SAML login (if configured), and social logins (if configured).

The local Power BI environment determines the language that ArcGIS for Power BI uses. In the Power BI service (powerbi.com), ArcGIS for Power BI uses the same language as the service. In Power BI Desktop, ArcGIS for Power BI uses the language of the installed software. If you are using an unsupported language, the visualization uses English.
