You can set layers to automatically refresh in ArcGIS for Power BI.

See Layers, Data layers, and Reference layers to learn more about each type of layer.

Some ArcGIS feature services are updated at regular intervals. If you add one of these feature services as a reference layer, you can specify how often it is updated and redrawn on the map by enabling the auto-refresh function and setting the refresh interval for that layer.

For example, if you have a reference layer that shows the water quality of beaches in your city, you can configure the auto-refresh function so the layer automatically reloads daily to show the most recent updates for swimming safety.

Note:
To automatically refresh a reference layer in ArcGIS for Power BI, set a refresh interval for the layer in ArcGIS before adding it to the visualization. Data layers cannot be automatically refreshed.

To set a layer to automatically refresh, complete the following steps:

  1. In the Layers list, select the layer to modify.
  2. Click Layer options Layer options.
  3. Click Auto-refresh Auto-refresh.

    The Auto-refresh pane appears.

  4. Turn on the Enable auto-refresh toggle button.

The refresh interval text box becomes active.

  5. Type a time interval in the text box or use the arrows to increase or decrease the time interval.

Specify the time interval in minutes, from 6 seconds to 24 hours. For example, 6 seconds is represented as 0.1 minute, and 1 day is represented as 1440 minutes.

  6. Click the Back button Back to close the Auto-refresh pane and view the Layers list or click Close Close to view the map.
