Some ArcGIS feature services are updated at regular intervals. If you add one of these feature services as a reference layer, you can specify how often it is updated and redrawn on the map by enabling auto-refresh and setting the refresh interval for that layer.
For example, if you have a reference layer that shows the water quality at beaches in your city, you can configure auto-refresh so that the layer automatically reloads daily to show the most recent updates for swimming safety.
Note:
To auto-refresh a reference layer in ArcGIS for Power BI, set a refresh interval for the layer in ArcGIS before adding it to the visualization. Auto-refresh is not available for Power BI data layers.
To auto-refresh a layer, do the following:
- In the Layers list, click Layer options
on the reference layer you want to modify and choose Auto-refresh
.
The Auto-refresh pane appears.
- Turn on the Enable auto-refresh toggle button.
The refresh interval text box becomes active.
- Type a time interval in the text box or use the arrows to increase or decrease the time interval.
Specify the time interval in minutes, from 6 seconds to 24 hours. For example, 6 seconds is represented as 0.1 minute; 1 day is represented as 1440 minutes.
- Click Back
to close the Auto-refresh pane and view the Layers list, or click Close
to view the map.
