Maps tab

The Maps tab is open by default when you enter the mission overview. The currently selected map area is always displayed at the top, under the Current Map heading. This is the connected mission map by default, but an offline map area may be displayed there if a user has selected one. Below this, you have access to any downloadable map areas that may have been created for the mission.

The connected mission map is accessible to all mission members and is always the main map used for any mission. Most of the work done in a mission appears on the live map, and you can access all of the tools used during a mission from the map.

Offline maps

Downloadable map areas are created to support offline use of ArcGIS Mission Responder. These are mission-critical map areas that are created in preparation for a mission in a disconnected environment. They contain a small section of the mission map that can be downloaded and used regardless of connection status, although tools and map functionality are limited by the lack of connection.

If offline map areas have been created for your mission, you may download them onto your device from the Maps tab in the mission overview. It is recommended that you do so when first connecting to a mission, as they are not available for download once in a disconnected environment.

Download offline map areas

To download and use an offline map area, complete the following workflow from the Maps tab:

  1. Open the Maps tab.

If offline map areas have been made available for the mission, they will be displayed under Available for Download.

  2. Tap the overflow button next to any map area you want to download. An alternate step at this point is to tap Download All and skip to step 5.
  3. Tap Download Area.
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until all of the map areas you want to download are listed under Available Maps.
  5. Tap the map area you want to use.

The mission map will open with your location dot centered. If the map area is not visible, this indicates that your location is not on the downloaded area of the map.

Remove downloaded map areas from the device

To remove a previously downloaded offline map area, complete the following workflow from the Maps tab:

  1. Open the Maps tab.
  2. Tap the overflow button next to any downloaded map area, listed under Available Maps.
  3. Tap Remove Area.
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until all of the map areas you want to remove are listed under Available for Download.
