Open Indoor Viewer

Available with the ArcGIS Indoors Maps extension.

Once you've configured Indoor Viewer, you can access it from the item page in your ArcGIS organization in two modes: browser mode or kiosk mode. When opened, the website URL has one of the following structures:

  • Browser mode:

    https://<yourportal.domain.com>/portal/apps/indoors/index.html?appid=ec4d222d17eb4f4a9e1ab9300623f068#

  • Kiosk mode:

    https://<yourportal.domain.com>/portal/apps/indoors/kiosk.html?appid=ec4d222d17eb4f4a9e1ab9300623f068#

Note:

The only difference between the URLs is index.html (for browser mode), and kiosk.html (for kiosk mode).

Once you sign in, the default map automatically loads. If you're using a private device, you can check the Keep me logged in check box to avoid having to sign in every time you open the app.

If an app opened in kiosk mode has been signed in, it can't be signed out using the sign out action link—this is because this link is hidden in kiosk mode. To force an app opened in kiosk mode to sign in to the ArcGIS organization in a browser window, click the refresh button in the browser. In some cases, you may need to delete the browser's cache and cookies (refer to your web browser’s documentation for instructions).

Note:

Kiosk mode is only supported in landscape orientation. A warning message appears if you try to use Viewer in kiosk mode in portrait orientation.

Enable full screen for kiosk mode on iPad

If you're using an iPad, you can have the app open in full screen by doing the following:

  1. Use Safari to browse to the Viewer app.
  2. Tap the Share button.
  3. Tap Add to Home Screen.

Enable full screen for kiosk mode on an Android tablet

If you're using an Android tablet, you can have the app open in full screen by doing the following:

  1. Use Google Chrome to browse to the Viewer app.
  2. Tap the More button.
  3. Tap Add to Home Screen.

Kiosk guided access mode on tablets

Most tablet manufacturers have made it possible to restrict use of the tablet to a single app. This can be a good way to deploy Indoor Viewer to public kiosks.

Note:

On Microsoft and Android devices, this single app restriction is called kiosk mode. On iOS devices, it is called guided access.

Microsoft Windows

Follow the steps from Microsoft to assign access to the app in kiosk mode in a Windows operating system.

Android

Follow the steps from Google support to set up kiosk mode for the app.

iOS

Follow the steps from Apple support to set up guided access for the app.
