Publish a site or page

When a site's owner or edit group members make changes to a site or page, they can save the draft and share with others to preview before publishing the changes.

Create a draft

Create a draft of a site or page to share a preview of your changes. Until published, a draft does not impact the current version of the site or page.

To create a draft of a site or page, complete the following steps:

  1. Edit a site or page layout.
  2. In the Customize panel, make any necessary changes.
  3. Click the Save layout button (this saves the layout as an unpublished draft).
  4. Click the View menu, and select View draft.

The preview shows sites and pages at three different screen sizes (desktop, tablet, mobile) that are representative of common mobile devices.

    Tip:
To copy a link to the unpublished draft, click Share URL in the upper left corner of the page. Edit or view access is not required to see the unpublished draft.

  5. Click Editor to return to editing, or click Switch to published site to see the published version.

You can compare the draft with the published version by opening the published version in a new browser tab.

  6. Click the Sharing button, and choose from the following visibility options to share with others while you edit:
    • Public Public—Everyone can see this site.
    • Organization Organization— All members with an account to this organization and groups with access can see this site.
    • Owner Owner—Owner and groups with access can see this site.

Publish changes

Publish your layout when you are ready to launch a new site or page or when you want to replace an existing version with the changes made during the most recent editing session.

Caution:

When you publish a draft, any changes made during the editing session permanently override the existing version of the site or page. You cannot revert to the previous version of the site or page.

To publish your changes, complete the following steps:

  1. Edit a site or page layout.
  2. In the Customize panel, make any necessary changes.
  3. Click the Publish layout button.
  4. Click the View menu, and select View published.

Delete changes

To delete all changes made during an editing session, click the More actions button more actions, and click Delete draft. Choosing this option does not affect the published version of the site or page. The site editor reverts to display the most recent version of the site or page (prior to this edit session).
