Display an event on a site or page

After creating an event, core team members can display the event on the initiative's site and pages.

Tip:

When sharing a public event, ensure that both the event and the site or page are shared publicly.

Calendar of upcoming events

The Upcoming Events card displays all events assigned to an initiative, including events created for other initiatives.

  1. Open an initiative site in edit mode.
  2. Add an Upcoming Events card onto an existing row.
  3. Hover over the card and click the settings button to switch to edit mode.
  4. Click Add Initiatives and select the initiatives that have events you want to show.
  5. Click Select.
  6. Adjust the appearance of the calendar by clicking the Show Title toggle button to display or remove the title. The default title is List of Upcoming Events, but you can provide your own title in the text field below the toggle button. Optionally adjust how the title is displayed by choosing the left justify, center, or right justify option.
  7. Click Save.

Single event

The Featured Event card displays an image alongside the event's details. You can add or update this image by clicking the second drop-down menu within the site builder and choosing Events. Find the event in the list and click its title to open it in edit mode

Note:

  1. Open an initiative site in edit mode.
  2. Drag a Featured Event card onto an existing row.
  3. Hover over the card and click the edit button to switch to edit mode.
  4. Under Event to Display, click the drop-down menu and choose the event to display or click Create a new event from the drop-down menu.

Accessibility best practices for displaying events

Both the Featured Event card and the Upcoming Events card use the background color and text color set in the initiative site's Theme settings.

If your event displays with a background and text color that are both light or both dark, they may not have enough contrast to meet accessibility standards. To change these colors without changing the site's theme settings, select Custom under Color Palette in the Appearance menu in the event's settings.
