After successfully searching for video or imagery in Search and Discover, you can view and analyze the results in the Results panel. In this panel, you can also preview selected results, view image metadata, and queue images or videos of interest into the cart to be used for further analysis.
Results tab
TheResults tab contains a table that displays a list of images or video returned from a search performed in the Search and Discover page. You can interact with the results table to further inspect images, such as viewing the metadata of images, previewing images, and selecting images or video to be queued for later use.
Note:
If no results are available or no services are registered for use in the search, a message appears in the results panel.
The Results tab also contains other options above the results table that allow for further interaction with the images or video. These options include:
- Run Search - When clicked, will run a search against the connected layer using any applied filters.
- Show Imagery - You can toggle on and off images to see a preview of a selected image overlaid on top of the map. The image is a full-resolution image that is orthorectified on the fly in map coordinate space. By default, images are toggled off, but you can toggle them on at any time.
- Toggle Footprints - You can toggle on all footprints to make the footprints of images and videos on the Results tab visible on the search map. By default, footprints are toggled on (visible), but you can toggle them off at any time.
- Clear Results - When clicked, will clear the results table.
- Show search queue details - When clicked, will open the search queue to show any images or video that have been added.
Results table interactions
You can hover over an image result in the table to see its corresponding footprint highlighted in yellow on the search map. Select an image by clicking the check box in the row, which results in the corresponding footprint being highlighted in cyan on the search map. Each time an image is selected, it's added to the Queue panel or your cart. Additionally, you can click the top checkbox to select all the images to add to your cart.
The results table can also be sorted by a field in ascending or descending order. Click the field name to do this.
Preview an image
You can preview an image in the results table to further inspect the image in its natural perspective of how the image was captured during collection.
- In the results table, click the Preview Image button for an image.
A full resolution preview of the image appears, where you can inspect the image by zooming and panning.
- Optionally, click the rotate button to rotate the image in the preview window.
- Click the outer perimeter and drag the pointer around to rotate.
- Click the center of the rotate button to reset the image so the top is up.
- Optionally click the document button to view the metadata for this image. The metadata tray will expand.
- Optionally click Copy image metadata to clipboard to copy the image metadata to your
clipboard.
Note:
The metadata tray can be viewed in three sizes by clicking the expand button at the bottom of the tray. Clicking this button cycles through the three sizes. The middle size is the default.
- When you're finished inspecting the image, you can add it to the queue or connect to the canvas view.
- Click Close to close the image preview window.
View image metadata
The metadata of each image can be viewed to gain a greater understanding of the image.
- In the results table, click the document button for an image.
The image metadata panel appears, and you can expand it to view information about the image.
- Click Close to close the image metadata panel.
By default, the results table displays a select few metadata fields. To view more or fewer fields, complete the following steps:
- In the results table, click Add Fields to expand the entire metadata fields list.
- Check metadata
fields to turn them on or off.
Your changes are dynamically displayed in the Results table.
Add images and video to the search queue
If you are connected to an imagery layer, as layers are selected in the results table, they are automatically added to the search queue. If you are connected to a video layer, the results table will show layer properties and values related to the video layer. Below the table, you can add the video layer to your search queue by clicking Add to Queue. When using an area of interest filter against a video layer, a list of markers is returned that identifies the number of times the specified location intersects with the video coverage and the duration of each marker. This information will be displayed in the Coverage Query Results table. These markers will appear on the video player timeline when connecting to the Canvas view with the video layer.
Create an Excalibur project
You can create an Excalibur project based on the images or videos queued in the Cart. Complete the following steps to create a project in the My Cart panel:
- Click Create New Project.
The Create an Excalibur Project dialog box appears.
- Provide information for the following parameters:

Note:
This name should be unique. If the same name as an existing folder in your content is detected, a new folder is created in your content with the word copy appended to it.
- Folder Name (required)
- Project Instructions (required)
Tip:
You can emphasize your instructions by clicking Bold or Italic. You can also create a list by clicking Unordered list or Ordered list.
- Summary (optional)
- Tags (optional)
- Title (required)
- Choose to share the project publicly, share with your organization, or keep it private.
The default setting is Owner. Optionally, you can also share the project with a group.
- Click Create Project to create the project. Optionally, click Reset Form to clear all the fields or Cancel to exit the form.
Your new project opens, and a folder for your project is created in your content.
- Using the More menu in the top of the project, click Project Details to edit additional project information or add observation layers to the project. Optionally, return to the Search and Discover page using the Search button in the side pane.
Connect to the canvas
Click Connect to Canvas to open the canvas, where you can focus on and work with the queued images or video using the canvas tools.
The Map Panel in the canvas is zoomed to the extent of the queued video or images. Learn more about the canvas.
Remove items from the cart
To remove a single image from the Cart, click the Cart button at the top of the window and click the Delete button next to the item of interest. The selected item is removed from the list and its corresponding footprint is removed from the search map. To remove all images in the queue, click Clear Cart. All corresponding footprints are also removed from the search map.
