Use export tools

After working with your video and analyzing areas of interest, you can export an area of interest and view it for use in briefings, reports, and presentations.

Use the Create Report tool

Generate a report to disseminate key information about a specific area through a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation. The Create Report tool allows you to define an area of interest and add any comments from an analysis. Reports can be created a report from the Map Panel.

To create a report, complete the following steps:

  1. Click the Tools menu in the canvas.
  2. In the Export Tools list, click Create Report.

    Optionally, click Upload Report if you already have an Excalibur Report that you want to upload to your portal account.

  3. Click Draw area to draw your area of interest in the Map Panel.

    Once enabled, you can click Cancel to cancel your drawing. Once you draw an area of interest, you will see a preview of your area of interest and can click Redraw to redraw your area.

  4. Fill in the following information:
    • Report Title
    • Analyst Comments
    • Report Filename (required)

    You also have additional report options to export a report in dark mode and include a title slide. Including a title slide is turned on by default.

  5. Click Create Report.

    The presentation file is available in your browser's default download location, and the Upload Report option appears.

    Note:

    You can upload a report to your portal account. The report uploads to different folders depending on the workflow. If you are working in the canvas view through an ad-hoc workflow, the report is saved in your My Content folder. If you create a report within an existing Excalibur project, the report is saved to your Excalibur project folder.

  6. Click the Upload button or drag a file to the area.

    Alternatively, you can click Skip Upload to skip the upload and continue.

    A notification appears in the App Notices center stating the imagery report was uploaded and saved to your online account as a new item.

    The tool automatically resets, and you can then view more details on the report by accessing it through the App Notices center in the canvas.

Screenshot tool

The Screenshot tool allows you to take a screenshot of an area of interest and view it in a new tab or save it to a location of your choosing. You can create a report from the Map Panel.

You can export an image by choosing one of the following:

  • View—Open your defined area of interest as a .png file in a new browser tab.
  • Download—Download your defined area of interest as a .png file to your computer.

Use the View option

Use the View option to open the resulting simple .png image in a new browser tab. To do this, complete the following steps:

  1. Click the Tools menu in the canvas view.
  2. In the Export Tools list, click Screenshot.
  3. Click Draw Area to draw your area of interest and to see a preview of your area.
  4. Optionally, once enabled, click Cancel to cancel your drawing. Once you draw an area of interest, click Redraw to redraw your area.

    Note:
    By default, the screenshot will include any markups, measurements, and observations that intersect with the area of interest you draw. You can turn off the visibility of these layers in the Layers List to only capture a screenshot of the area of interest.

  5. Select View.
  6. Click Submit.

    A new browser tab opens with the .png image.

Use the Download option

Use the Download option to download a simple .png image of the drawn area. This is useful for briefings and presentations. To do this, complete the following steps:

  1. Click the Tools menu in the canvas view.
  2. In the Export Tools list, click Screenshot.
  3. Click Draw Area to draw an area of interest and to see a preview of the area.

    Once enabled, you can click Cancel to cancel your drawing. Once you draw an area of interest, you can click Redraw to redraw your area.

    Note:

    By default, the screenshot will include any markups, measurements, and observations that intersect with the area of interest drawn. You can turn off the visibility of these layers in the Layer List to only capture a screenshot of the area of interest.

  4. Select Download.
  5. Provide a name for the saved file.
  6. Click Submit.

    The file is available in the browser's default download location, and the Upload Screenshot option appears.

    Note:
    You have the option of uploading a screenshot to your portal account. The screenshot will upload to different folders depending on the workflow. If working in the canvas view through an ad-hoc workflow, the screenshot is saved in the My Content folder. Screenshots taken within an existing Excalibur project save to the Excalibur project folder.
  7. Click the Upload button or drag a file to the area.

    Alternatively, you can click Skip Upload to skip the upload and continue.

    A notification appears in the App Notices center stating the screenshot was uploaded and saved to the chosen online account as a new item.

    The tool automatically resets, and more details on the screenshot can be accessed through the App Notices center in the canvas.

Capture Video Frame

The Capture Video Frame tool allows you to take a snapshot of the current frame being played in your video in the Focus Panel and either view that snapshot orthorectified in the Map Panel or can be downloaded it as a .jpeg file.

View the video frame on the map

To view the captured video frame in the Map Panel, complete the following steps:

  1. Click the Tools menu in the canvas view.
  2. In the Export Tools list, click Capture Video Frame.
  3. Click Capture to capture the current video frame that is being displayed.

    A preview of the frame appears. You can click New Capture to capture a different frame.

  4. Ensure the View on map option is selected.
  5. Click Submit.

    The captured video frame is added to the map.

  6. Zoom to the video frame by clicking the Layers List at the top of the canvas, clicking the Actions button next to the Captured Video Frames layer, and clicking Zoom To. Optionally, hide the frame or change the transparency of it in the Layers List by clicking the Hide Layer button or adjusting the transparency slider.

Download the video frame

To download the captured video frame, complete the following steps:

  1. Click the Tools menu in the canvas view.
  2. In the Export Tools list, click Capture Video Frame.
  3. Click Capture to capture the current video frame that is being displayed.

    A preview of the frame appears. You can click New Capture to capture a different frame.

  4. Ensure the Download option is selected.
  5. Provide a unique file name.
  6. Click Submit.

    The file is available in the browser's default download location, and the Upload Video Frame option appears.

    Note:

    You can upload a snapshot of a video frame to your portal account. The video frame uploads to different folders depending on the workflow. If you are working in the canvas view through an ad-hoc workflow, the video frame is saved in your My Content folder. If you capture a video frame within an existing Excalibur project, the video frame is saved to your Excalibur project folder.

  7. Click the Upload button or drag a file to the area.

    Alternatively, click Skip Upload to skip the upload and continue.
