Use the Batch template

The Batch template allows you to import multiple projects and process them sequentially. This eliminates the need for you to watch for a project to complete before initiating another project. You can configure the processing options for each project and remove or add projects after the batch project has been created. With the Batch template, you can start several jobs, set them to run overnight, and view the results in the morning.

Capabilities

The Batch template output product capabilities are determined individually by each project in the batch process.

Create a project

To create a batch project, complete the following steps:

  1. Start Drone2Map.
  2. Sign in using your ArcGIS Online organization or Portal for ArcGIS credentials.
  3. Provide a name for your project and choose a location where you'll save it or accept the default.
  4. Select the Batch template.
  5. Click Add Project and browse to the location of the Drone2Map project folder, select the .d2mx file in the folder, and click OK.
  6. Click Create to create the project.
  7. On the Home tab, click the Projects button Attributes to view information about each project.
  8. Click a project in the table to select it.
  9. On the Home tab, click the Options button and review the checked options. All of the previous options you configured on your projects should be present. You can change any option on the project before processing.
  10. If you change any options for a project, click OK to save the options.
  11. Click Start to begin processing.

The Manage pane appears and projects should start processing in their project table order. You will see the status of processing, which will show as complete when the processing is done for that project.

Interact with batch projects

After the batch project is created, the map is zoomed to the extent of all projects with the Project Areas layer in the Contentspane and its table open.

To change processing options on a batch project, complete the following steps:

  1. Select the project from the map or the Project Areas table.
  2. Click Options.
  3. Change the processing options.

Manage projects

You can add and remove projects as well as view the processing report.

Add or remove projects

To add or remove projects, complete the following steps:

  1. On the Home tab, click Add Projects.
  2. Browse to the .d2mx project file and click OK.

    The project is added to the batch project.

  3. To remove a project, select the project or projects to be removed and click Remove Projects.
  4. Click Yes to confirm or No to cancel.

View the processing report

To view the processing report for a project, complete the following steps:

  1. Select a project.
  2. Click Report Report.

Open a project

Once processing is completed for a project, it can be opened with the following workflow:

  1. On the Home tab, click the Projects button Attributes to open the Projects table.
  2. Select the project in the table that has completed processing.
  3. On the Home tab, click the Open Project button Drone Project to open the project.

    A new instance of Drone2Map will open for each project opened.
