Share a web scene

You can share a scene from Drone2Map to your active portal as a web scene. Web scenes are interactive displays of geographic information that allow you to visualize and analyze data in 3D. You can view and interact with web scenes using Drone2Map.

To share a web scene, you must have the following:

  • An account that is part of an ArcGIS Online organization with the privilege to create content.
  • The account must also have privileges to publish web layers.

You can continue to work with Drone2Map while your sharing job is processing. You can monitor the status of your sharing job in the Manage pane.

Share your items

You have the following options for sharing your items, depending on your sharing privileges:

  • Your organization—Sharing with your organization means only members of your organization have access to your item.
  • Groups to which you belong—If you are a member of a group, you can share your item with that group. Sharing with specific groups restricts access to a smaller, more focused set of people.
  • Everyone—Sharing with everyone makes your item public; anybody who has access to the portal website or ArcGIS Online, including anonymous users, can find and use your item, and group owners can include it in their group content.
  • Everyone, your organization, and groups to which you belong—You can share your item with a larger audience (for example, everyone and your organization) and also share it with a specific group. This allows you to categorize your item as especially relevant to a particular group while still making it available to others in your organization.
Note:

If sharing to an ArcGIS Online organizational account, service credits apply.

Use Drone2Map to share a web scene

To share a web scene, complete the following steps :

  1. Open a Drone2Map project.
  2. On the Share tab, in the Share As group, click Web Scene Web Scene.
  3. Check the layers you want to include in your web scene.

See the Layer types section below to determine what type of layer is created and added to your web scene.

  4. If adding to a web catalog, check the Add portal item to web catalog check box.

A web catalog must exist for the project before layers can be added to it. A new web catalog can be created by clicking the Create new web catalog button Browse. For more information on working with catalog datasets, see Use catalog datasets.

  5. Click the Properties tab to set properties for each selected layer. See the respective sharing topics for details on the available properties for each layer type.

Scenes with 3D layers that use a projected coordinate system will always share those layers out as a global scene by default which publishes the layer as WGS 1984/ EGM96. However, you can configure the layers to use the project spatial reference through the Properties pane.

  6. Click the Details tab to go back and title your web map.
  7. Optionally, choose a folder to share your web map, provide Description text, and update the tags.
  8. Check the appropriate groups for sharing your items.
  9. Click OK.
