Using the Street Creation tools , you can draw streets by freehand and create streets with curves and straight segments.
You can set street options in the Tool Options window .
Draw a street
To draw a freehand street, complete the following steps:
- Click the Polygonal Street Creation tool
(or press G) on the toolbar and click the Freehand Street Creation tool
(or press Shift+G) in the Tool Options window
.
You can also click Graph > Freehand Street Creation in the main menu.
- Click and drag to start drawing a street and release when finished.
The streets automatically snap to street segments (centerline) or nodes.
- Press Shift to temporarily disable snapping.
- Double-click a street segment to add a vertex at that place.
Tool options
The Freehand Street Creation tool options include the following:

Street Configuration | Street configuration to apply to the street. See Work with street configurations. |
Node Rule File | Node rule file to be assigned to the street. |
Re-use settings from neighbors | If enabled, settings are copied from neighbor streets, if available. If an existing street is extended, settings are typically copied from that segment. |
Apply rule-based model generation | If enabled, model generation is automatically triggered. |
Align terrain | Align the street with the terrain. |
Intersect Segments | Create a new node at the intersection of segments. |
