A scene in ArcGIS CityEngine consists of various types of scene objects that are organized in the following layers:
Shape Layer | Shape layers contain static shapes typically used as building footprints for generation of CGA models. |
Graph Layer | Graph layers contain street network graphs including blocks, dynamic shapes (street shapes, building footprints), and generated models. |
Static Model Layer | Static model layers contain static models imported in CityEngine, such as Collada and glTF formats. |
Map Layer | Map layers contain maps (images) and can be used to globally control various parameters for scene objects. The scene terrain is also created using a map layer. |
Analysis Layer | Analysis layers contain analysis tools such as viewshed or view corridor. |
Guide Layer | Guide layers contain guides for precise drawing such as parallel or perpendicular with existing objects. |
Each layer type can hold only elements of its own kind. To group elements of different types, use group layers in the Scene Editor window.
