Edit streets

You can use a variety of tools in CityEngine to edit streets including manually adjust streets and curves, clean up geometry, align streets to terrain or convert dynamically generated CGA streets into static shapes for detailed modeling.

Use the Street editing tools Street editing tools on the toolbar to manually adjust streets and curves, and merge and remove nodes:

Edit Street/Curves Edit street/curves tool

Manually edit street alignment horizontally and vertically using interactive handles.

Merge Nodes

Merge nodes such as merging multiple nodes into a single node.

Remove Nodes

Remove nodes from a street with the option to maintain the street alignment.

Use the following additional tools on the toolbar for streets to clean up and align to terrain:

Cleanup Graph Cleanup graph tool

Clean up street networks by merging nodes and segments; and create nodes at intersecting segments.

Align Streets to Terrain Align streets to terrain tool

Align streets to terrain.

You can also edit streets using other tools in the Graph main menu:

Set curves smooth or straight

Set street curves straight or smooth.

Generate Bridges

Generate bridges which adds elevation data for street networks.

Simplify Graphs

Simplify street networks by removing unnecessary nodes from straight sections and curves.

Reset Shape Attributes

Reset shape attributes and revert the start rules to the default values.

Reverse Direction

Reverse street direction and sidewalks.

Fit Widths to Shapes

Fit street widths to align with shapes.

Analyze Graph

Analyze street networks by computing global and local integration, and in-between centrality.

Convert to Static Shapes

Convert to static shapes dynamic streets that were generated by CGA.
