Installing CityEngine

The steps below will guide you through the CityEngine 2020.1 installation process.

Before installing CityEngine 2020.1

Before installing CityEngine 2020.1, it is recommended that you go through the list provided below.

  1. Verify that your system meets all system requirements.
  2. This product requires authorization before use. To obtain your authorization numbers, see Authorizing your software.
  3. If you intend to use a concurrent-use license for this product, you need to install ArcGIS License Manager with version 2020.0 or newer (if it doesn't already exists for your use). For more information, see ArcGIS License Manager for CityEngine quick start guide.
  4. Make sure the user has administrator privileges.

You are now ready to proceed with the CityEngine installation.

How to install CityEngine 2020.1

Follow these steps to install CityEngine 2020.1.

  1. Mount by double-clicking the setup program's .dmg file, which contains the CityEngine installer.
  2. Double-click CityEngine 2020.1 Installer to launch the CityEngine installation program.
  3. Evaluate the Introduction dialog box. Click Next when you are ready to proceed.
  4. Review the license agreement and accept if you agree. Click Next to continue with the installation.
  5. Review the summary information and click Install to begin the installation.
  6. As the installation progresses, a user and password prompt will appear. This prompt will authorize the installer to install and configure the License Manager service on this system.
    Note:

    If this action is bypassed by selecting the Cancel button, CityEngine will not be authorized for use. To install and configure the License Manager service after installation, follow the steps below:

    1. Browse to Applications > Utilities.
    2. Double-click the Terminal app.
    3. At the Terminal prompt, execute the script below as a superuser to install the License Manager service:
      $ sudo /Application/CityEngine20020.1/service/install_fnp.sh
    4. If prompted, provide the sudo password to proceed.

  7. At the end of the installation, the CityEngine 2020.1 Administrator wizard will be launched after pressing the Done button to quit the installer. Select the method for authorizing CityEngine. For more information, see Authorizing your software.
