Upgrade ArcGIS Business Analyst Enterprise

Upgrading ArcGIS Business Analyst Enterprise requires the following steps:

  • Upgrade the ArcGIS Enterprise base deployment
  • Upgrade ArcGIS GeoEnrichment Server

Upgrade the ArcGIS Enterprise base deployment

To upgrade the base deployment, download the latest ArcGIS Enterprise software from the 12.0 downloads on My Esri.

Upgrade ArcGIS GeoEnrichment Server

Upgrading ArcGIS GeoEnrichment Server requires first upgrading the ArcGIS Server site where GeoEnrichment Server is installed and then using the GeoEnrichment Server setup program.

You have the option to export a server configuration file. You may want to export a server configuration file to create the same ArcGIS Server account when installing on multiple machines, store the account for use when upgrading to a newer version, or perform a silent installation where the username and password are encrypted.

When exporting a server configuration file to a network share, the Local System account on the machine where ArcGIS Server is being installed must have write permissions to the network share. For example, if you're installing ArcGIS Server on a machine named Quick, the Local System account on Quick must have write permission to the network share. If the permissions are not set, the server configuration file may not export successfully. If you're unsure how to correctly set permissions for the network share, contact your system administrator or export the server configuration file locally and copy it to the network share.

To upgrade the ArcGIS GeoEnrichment Server, do the following:

  1. Upgrade the ArcGIS Server site to 12.0.
  2. Upgrade the ArcGIS Web Adaptor to 12.0.
  3. Upgrade the GeoEnrichment Server:
    1. Extract the ArcGIS_GeoEnrichment_Server_Linux_version*.tar.gz file.
    2. Double-click Setup.

The GeoEnrichment Server welcome page appears.

  4. Click Next.
  5. Review and accept the Esri Master Agreement and click Next.

The installation utility appears. It shows the location where files will be overwritten.

  6. Click Next.

The Specify GeoEnrichment Data Store Account window appears. The GeoEnrichment Data Store account name, used by your existing installation, is prepopulated in the ArcGIS Server Account input box.

  7. Enter your password by doing any of the following:
    • Provide the password for the ArcGIS Server account. Typically, this is the password you defined when installing the software.
    • If the password has changed since you installed the software—for example, by using the Configure ArcGIS Server Account Utility—you will need to provide the password you designated when modifying the account.
    • If the password is not validated, an error message appears indicating that the password is invalid. If you are unsure of the password for the ArcGIS Server account, contact your system administrator or reset your password using the Configure ArcGIS Server Account Utility. For more information, see ArcGIS Server account.
  8. To select a configuration setting, choose one of the following options:
    • Click the I have a configuration file with the account information generated by a previous run of the setup option to use the same credentials in the server configuration file with the credentials used by your existing ArcGIS Server site.
    • Click the Specify the account name and password option to manually enter the ArcGIS Server account information on the Export account configuration file dialog box.
    • Click Next and accept the default Do not export configuration file option if you do not want to export a configuration file.
    • Click Next and click Export configuration file if you want to export a server configuration file for future installations. Browse to a secure folder and provide a name for the configuration file.
  9. Click Install to install the GeoEnrichment Server software and click Next.

GeoEnrichment Server is installed on your machine.

  10. Click Finish to close the GeoEnrichment Server installation application.

The GeoEnrichment Server Environment Configuration Utility dialog box appears.

  11. Click Next.
  12. Enter the credentials for the portal administrator. Click Next and click Upgrade.

As the GeoEnrichment Server environment upgrades, a status bar and additional details are made available to track the progress.

  13. Click Next once completed and click Finish.

The GeoEnrichment Server environment successfully upgrades.

  14. Optionally, check the Run the data management tools to install data packs check box to manage data using the GeoEnrichment Data Management Utility.
  15. Post-upgrade steps.

Some server-side features may not be enabled unless the USA data is removed and added again using the data management wizard. Two examples of this are the ability to find similar variables in the data browser and the interesting facts infographic panels. Removing and adding the data is not required as part of the upgrade but the two features mentioned above may not be enabled otherwise.
