Upgrade ArcGIS Business Analyst Enterprise

To upgrade the ArcGIS Business Analyst Enterprise base deployment, do the following:

  1. Upgrade the base deployment by doing either of the following:
    • If you installed a base deployment using the ArcGIS Enterprise Builder, you can upgrade the base deployment to the most recent ArcGIS Enterprise version using the builder.
    • If you did not install a base deployment using the ArcGIS Enterprise Builder, upgrade the individual software components.
  2. Upgrade ArcGIS Business Analyst Web App.

The version of Business Analyst Web App must always match the version of Portal for ArcGIS you're using. See the compatibility matrix for more information. The setup is installed on the machine with Portal for ArcGIS.

To upgrade ArcGIS Business Analyst Web App, do the following:

    1. Download the latest version of Business Analyst Web App setup from the 11.3 downloads on Business Analyst Web App. For more information, see Installing Business Analyst Web App.
    2. Remove the existing version of Business Analyst Web App from the machine where the Portal for ArcGIS is installed.
    3. Install the 11.3 setup.

The GeoEnrichment Data Store account name, used by your existing installation, is pre-populated in the ArcGIS Server Account input box.

    5. Enter your password by doing any of the following:

      • Provide the password for the ArcGIS Server account. Typically, this is the password you defined when installing the software.

      • If the password has changed since you installed the software--for example, by using the Configure ArcGIS Server Account Utility, you will need to provide the password you designated when modifying the account.

      • If the password is not validated, an error message appears indicating that the password is invalid. If you are unsure of the password for the ArcGIS Server account, contact your system administrator or reset your password using the Configure ArcGIS Server Account Utility. For more information, see The ArcGIS Server account.

    6. To select a configuration setting, choose one of the following options:
      Note:

You may want to export a server configuration file to create the same ArcGIS Server account when installing on multiple machines, store the account for use when upgrading to a newer version, or perform a silent installation where the username and password are encrypted.

      • Click the I have a configuration file with the account information generated by a previous run of this setup option to use the same credentials in the server configuration file with the credentials used by your existing ArcGIS Server site.

      • Click the Specify the account name and password option to manually enter the ArcGIS Server account information in the Export account configuration file dialog.

      • Click Next and accept the default Do not export configuration file option if you do not want to export a configuration file.

      • Click Next and click Export configuration file if you want to export a server configuration file for future installations. Browse to a secure folder and provide a name for the configuration file.

      Note:

When exporting a server configuration file to a network share, the Local System account on the machine, where ArcGIS Server is being installed, must have write permissions to the network share. For example, if you're installing ArcGIS Server on a machine named Quick, the Local System account on Quick must have write permission to the network share.

If the permissions are not set, the server configuration file may not export successfully.

If you're unsure how to correctly set permissions for the network share, contact your system administrator or export the server configuration file locally and copy it to the network share.

    7. Click Install to install the GeoEnrichment Server software.

  6. Post upgrade steps.

Some server-side features may not be enabled unless the USA data is removed and added again using the data management wizard. Two examples of this are the ability to find similar variables in the data browser and the interesting facts infographic panels. Removing and adding the data is not required as part of the upgrade but the two features mentioned above may not be enabled otherwise.
