Use Tax Parcel Data Management

The Tax Parcel Data Management solution offers a set of capabilities that help local governments inventory tax parcels from record information and share this information with internal and external stakeholders.

In this topic, you’ll learn how to use the solution by assuming the role of a user and performing the workflows below.

Maintain tax parcel inventory

You will assume the role of a mapping technician responsible for maintaining an inventory of tax parcels. The Tax Parcel Data Management ArcGIS Pro project includes a series of tasks to help guide you through these workflows.

  1. Sign in to your ArcGIS organization and browse to the Tax Parcel Data Management Desktop Application Template.
  2. Open the item page and click Download.
  3. Unzip and open the Tax Parcel Data Management ArcGIS Pro project.
  4. On the View tab, in the Windows group, click Catalog Pane.
  5. In the Catalog pane, expand the Tasks folder, and double-click the Tax Parcel Data Management task.
  6. In the Tasks pane, click the How to use Tax Parcel Data Management task group to expand the collection of tasks.

Tax parcels from new subdivision

Tax parcels are created from lots contained within platted subdivisions, surveys, or other recorded documents. This workflow should be used when entering measurements or digitizing from paper or scanned drawings.

Build tax parcels from CAD lines

Tax parcels are created from lots contained within platted subdivisions, surveys, or other recorded documents. This workflow should be used when tax parcels are sourced from digital submissions or shared as CAD files.

Merge tax parcels

Tax parcels are merged by recorded document, or sometimes by owner request. This workflow should be used to merge two or more existing tax parcels into a new tax parcel.

Tax parcels are split by either adding or modifying parcel boundary lines. This workflow should be used to reconfigure boundaries between multiple tax parcels.

Parcel split: metes-and-bounds

Tax parcels are split using coordinate geometry from a metes-and-bounds description typically recorded with a deed or survey. This workflow should be used when creating tax parcels from the description and tax parcels from the remaining area.

Tax parcels are split using area descriptions typically recorded with a deed or survey. This workflow should be used when creating tax parcels from the description and tax parcels from the remaining area.

Tax parcel boundary adjustment

Tax parcel boundaries need to be adjusted when a new document describing them is recorded, or when adjacent tax parcels are changed, causing map updates. This workflow should be used when adjusting boundaries of tax parcels.

Tax parcels need to be updated when there is a resurvey, replat, or owner request. This workflow should be used when updating corners of tax parcels.
