Use Green Infrastructure Inspections

Green Infrastructure Inspections can be used to streamline inspections on private and public land ensuring stormwater runoff is being managed effectively.

In this topic, you’ll learn how to use the solution by assuming the role of a user and performing the workflows below.

Inspect green infrastructure

Stormwater assets should be inspected and maintained on a regular schedule to ensure they are functioning appropriately and issues that may arise can be resolved quickly to ensure high water quality.

In this workflow, you will assume the role of a stormwater inspector who has been assigned to conduct inspections on green infrastructure.

  1. Download ArcGIS Field Maps and ArcGIS Survey123 onto your mobile device.

This workflow requires the latest versions of both ArcGIS Field Maps and ArcGIS Survey123 so verify that you have the latest versions of both apps before starting the following workflow.

  2. Open ArcGIS Field Maps and sign in to your ArcGIS organization.

Open ArcGIS Survey123 and verify you have the Green Infrastructure Inspection survey downloaded to your phone.

  3. Tap the Green Infrastructure Field Map to open it.
  4. Tap on the green infrastructure point on which you are going to perform an inspection.
  5. Click on the Conduct Inspection link in the popup.
  6. ArcGIS Survey123 will launch. Fill out the inspection form.
  7. When complete, click the check mark at the bottom right corner to submit the inspection.

Review green infrastructure inspections

Managers and inspectors want the ability to understand the overall condition of the green infrastructure in their community as well as the individual results all in one location.

In this workflow, you will assume the role of a stormwater manager who wants to review the inspection results of an inspection on green infrastructure.

  1. Sign in to your ArcGIS organization, browse and view the Green Infrastructure Inspections Dashboard.
  2. In the top right, use the filters to search for the inspection results you would like to view.

Complete green infrastructure program application

Although green infrastructure can be built on private land and the maintenance is the responsibility of the land owner, stormwater managers are still responsible for tracking and reporting on the green infrastructure. Private property owners with green infrastructure can submit their verifications online. They must complete an application and receive approval before they can submit their verification information for annual green infrastructure maintenance.

In this workflow, you will assume the role of a private property owner, or their delegate, who is responsible for submitting information about the condition and maintenance of their green infrastructure.

  1. In a browser, go to the Green Infrastructure website.
  2. Scroll to the Apply to submit green infrastructure verifications section and click Apply.

When community residents do not have a community account or are not signed in to the Green Infrastructure site, the site displays buttons to Create an account or Sign In with an existing account. If a community resident is logged into the site, the Green Infrastructure site displays an Apply button, which can be used to access the Application form. In the following steps, a community resident has created an account and is signed in to the Green Infrastructure site.

  3. Complete the application form.
  4. Close the browser tab and return to the Green Infrastructure website.

Manage green infrastructure applicants

After private property owners, or their delegates, apply to submit their green infrastructure verification information online, their applications must be reviewed and managed.

In this workflow, you will assume the role of a stormwater manager who is responsible for reviewing submission applications, identifying the green infrastructure the submitter is responsible for and approving the application.

  1. Sign in to your ArcGIS organization and browse to the Green Infrastructure Verifications dashboard.
  2. On the bottom left, click on the Responsible Party tab.
  3. In the top right, use the filter to view the applications in the Submitted status.
  4. Click on the application in the Responsible Party Application list.
  5. In the Manage Applications view, review the information submitted.

  7. Change the Status to Ready for Assignment.
  8. Scroll to the bottom and click Submit.
Note:

The Green Infrastructure Submission Notebook that was scheduled to run every night will update the domain of the assignto field in the BMP_Point of the StormwaterSystem feature with the username of the applicant. You will update this field in the next step.

Assign private assets

After private property owners, or their delegates, have been approved to submit their green infrastructure verification information online, the green infrastructure must be assigned to them and they must be notified that they are now able to submit their information online.

In this workflow, you will assume the role of a stormwater manager who is responsible for assigning the green infrastructure to the appropriate user.

  1. Sign in to your ArcGIS organization and browse to the Green Infrastructure Verifications dashboard.
  2. On the bottom left, click on the Responsible Party tab.
  3. In the top right, use the filter to view the applications in the Pending status.
  4. Click on the application in the Responsible Party Application list.
  5. In the Manage Applications view, find the asset ID(s) in the Asset ID list you found in the previous step.
  6. Search for the Asset ID(s) in the map.
