Introduction to Crime Analysis

Crime Analysis can be used to streamline crime mapping, identify hot spots, enable investigative and administrative spatial analysis workflows, and produce analytical products for internal and external stakeholders.

Place-based strategies are among the most effective approaches in modern policing because they focus resources where crime is concentrated. In law enforcement agencies, Crime analysis drives these strategies through the use of mapping and spatial analysis.

While mapping and spatial analysis are critical policing capabilities, many agencies lack the time and expertise to develop them effectively. To build and maintain this critical competency, agencies require focused tools and guided workflows to help them consistently produce the robust spatial insight needed to effectively reduce crime.

Crime Analysis requires the following:

To deploy this solution, you must have an ArcGIS organizational account. After deploying the solution, you can download it from your organization and begin using it in ArcGIS Pro.

The following are the release notes:

Version	Description
6.0 (Sep 2026)	A new Crime Analysis add-in (2026.9.30) includes two new geoprocessing tools—Aoristic Analysis and Weighted Displacement Difference—and support for ArcGIS Pro 3.7. The Crime Analysis Desktop ArcGIS Pro project and associated tasks and layout and report templates are now included in the solution. The CrimeAnalysisSolution ArcGIS Pro project is no longer included in the solution. The project, which includes example data and maps, is now named Crime Analysis Solution Examples and is available to download. A link to the download is included in the solution folder.
5.0 (Nov 2025)	A new Crime Analysis add-in (2025.11.18) includes support for ArcGIS Pro 3.6. The Crime Analysis add-in has a new designation as an Esri provided add-in. This designation is enabled on ArcGIS Pro 3.6 or later.
4.0 (Nov 2024)	A new Crime Analysis add-in (2024.11.21) includes references to the Hot Spot Analysis Comparison tool, Space Time Kernel Density tool, and Capture To Clipboard command. The new add-in addresses a bug where the Calculate Prediction Zone tool would fail unexpectedly when processing a large number of input features (BUG-000130537).
3.0 (Jul 2022)	A new Crime Analysis Add-In (2022.7.21) that includes support for ArcGIS Pro 3.0 and all languages supported in ArcGIS Pro 3.0. A series of enhancements to the Crime Analysis ArcGIS Pro project.
2.1 (Jun 2021)	A new Crime Analysis Add-In (2021.6.29) that resolves an issue that could cause the Crime Analysis ribbon to become unresponsive. A series of enhancements to the Crime Analysis ArcGIS Pro project.
2.0 (Feb 2021)	A new Crime Analysis Add-In (2020.12.17) that includes a new ribbon design and analysis gallery. A series of new capabilities have been added: Add Graphics Layer, Colocation Analysis tool, Density-based Clustering tool, Link Charts, and Reports. Existing tools have been updated to simplify parameters, streamline licensing and increase performance. In some cases, tool names have also been changed.
1.0 (Nov 2020)	Crime Analysis is now available in the ArcGIS Solutions app. The Crime Analysis Add-In (2019.10.16).
