Configure Military Ground Mobility

Military Ground Mobility can be used to conduct cross country mobility analysis and enhance operational planning.

Configure the Military Ground Mobility Project

To get started, follow the steps below to download and review the Military Ground Mobility Project.

  1. Sign in to your ArcGIS organization and browse to the Military Ground Mobility desktop application template.
  2. From the item page, click Download.
  3. Unzip the downloaded folder, and then from the unzipped folder, open the ArcGIS Pro project.
  4. If you do not see the Catalog pane, from the View tab, in the Windows group, click Catalog Pane.
  5. In the Catalog pane, expand the Tasks folder and then double-click the Military Ground Mobility task item.
  6. In the Tasks pane, expand the Explore Military Ground Mobility task group to see the collection of tasks.

Review and configure tables

This workflow is optional and doesn't need to be completed in order to work with the solution.

After Military Ground Mobility is deployed, downloaded, and unzipped, you can modify the capabilities and costs CSVs to best suit the needs and capabilities of your unit. The Solution utilizes doctrinal and estimated vehicle capabilities and terrain feature costs to determine cross country mobility. These values are based on previous U.S. Army doctrine, FM 5-33 – Terrain Analysis, however they may be updated as needed.

To review and configure the tables as needed, complete the following steps:

  1. In the Tasks pane, expand the Set Up Military Ground Mobility task group.
  2. Double-click the Review Capabilities and Costs Tables task.
  3. Complete the task steps.
