In this topic, you will learn how to use the solution by assuming the role of a user and performing the following workflows.

Use your organization's data or configured apps to follow these workflows.Inspect stormwater BMP
Stormwater assets should be inspected and maintained on a regular schedule to ensure they are functioning appropriately and issues that may arise can be resolved quickly to ensure high water quality.

Mobile workers routinely inspect stormwater BMPs to ensure that they are working properly to allow stormwater to flow as the system was designed, to provide a record of their inspections, and to inform maintenance needs. In this workflow, you will assume the role of a stormwater inspector who wants to conduct inspections on stormwater BMP assets.
To inspect a BMP in the field, complete the following steps:
- Download ArcGIS Field Maps onto your mobile device.
- Open ArcGIS Field Maps and sign in to your ArcGIS organization.
- Open the Stormwater BMP Inspections Field Editor map.
- Tap the stormwater BMP on the map which is being inspected.
A pop-up appears showing BMP attribute details.
- On the bottom, click on the related records button. Alternatively, scroll down in the pop-up to the RELATED section and click the related records icon.
- Choose the BMP Inspection table from the list.
- Tap Add.
- Complete the inspection form as appropriate.
- When you are finished, at the upper right, tap the check mark or Submit.
Note:
Your interface may vary depending on the type of mobile device that you use.
- Repeat steps 4 through 8 to conduct additional inspections.
Record stormwater BMP inspection in the web
Stormwater managers may have historic records of inspections. Adding historic records of inspections can help stormwater managers understand past inspection patterns and asset conditions. In this workflow, you will assume the role of a stormwater manager who has information about an inspection done in the past on a stormwater BMP that needs to be added to the system.
To inspect a BMP in the web, complete the following steps:
- In a browser, sign in to your ArcGIS organization and browse to the Stormwater BMP Inspections Center app.
- From the item page, click View to launch the application.
- In the Stormwater BMP Inspections Editor tab, explore the map to view stormwater BMPs.
- Click on the Edit asset/Add inspection menu on the left.
- Click Select.
- Click the stormwater BMP on the map which is being inspected.
A pop-up appears showing BMP attribute details.
- Click the Add record button under the Inspections group.
- Complete the inspection form as appropriate.
- Click Create.

Stormwater managers need the ability to monitor the stormwater BMP inspections in their community. In this workflow, you will assume the role of the stormwater manager who wants to review the inspection results on BMPs.
To review inspections results, complete the following steps:
- In a browser, sign into your ArcGIS organization and browse to the Stormwater BMP Inspections Center app.
- From the item page, click View to launch the application.
- In the Stormwater BMP Inspections Editor tab, explore the map to view stormwater BMPs.
- Click on the BMP point in the map, in the Additional details window review asset information.

Manage public submissions
Note:
This workflow is optional and does not need to be completed to work with the solution.Note:
This workflow is designed to support external agencies using ArcGIS Hub Premium community accounts. If private property owners will not be submitting information about the BMPs on their property with the Private Stormwater BMP Submission (public) app, these workflow can be skipped.Apply for electronic submission
Since stormwater BMPs can be built on private land, the maintenance of stormwater BMPs may be the responsibility of the land owner, however many stormwater managers are still responsible for tracking and reporting on the asset. Private property owners can submit their stormwater BMP verifications online, but they must first complete an application and receive approval. In this workflow, you will assume the role of a private property owner, or their delegate, who is responsible for submitting information about the condition and maintenance of the stormwater BMP.
To apply for electronic submission, complete the following steps:
- In a browser, go to the Stormwater BMP website.
- Scroll to the Apply to submit BMP verifications section and click Sign In.
If you do not already have an ArcGIS Online account, click Create account and follow the instructions to create one.
