Do I have to use the CrimeAnalysisSolution ArcGIS Pro project to use the tools or ribbon included with the solution?
No. The purpose of the CrimeAnalysisSolution ArcGIS Pro project is to help you learn how to use the geoprocessing tools included with the Crime Analysis add-in. For each tool on the ribbon, the project includes a map with notes that explain how to use the tool, its purpose within the context of the field of crime analysis, an example of what the tool output looks like, and sample data that you can use when learning how to run the tool. The project is a learning resource and is not intended to be used for routine crime analysis work.
No. The purpose of the CrimeAnalysis add-in ribbon is to make it easier for analysts to find the ArcGIS Pro tools that they frequently use. Except for the Repeat and Near Repeat Analysis tools, all tools displayed on the ribbon can also be found in the Geoprocessing pane, even if you have not installed the add-in.
Yes. The solution can be used at all ArcGIS Pro licensing levels. If your licensing level does not allow you to use a specific tool, the tool button on the Crime Analysis ribbon displays a lock, and if you click the button on the ribbon, a Tool is not licensed message appears in the Geoprocessing pane.
No. The Crime Analysis ribbon does not automatically update. To update the ribbon, you must install the CrimeAnalysis add-in separately. When you perform a minor version update to ArcGIS Pro (for example, 3.5 to 3.6) and the add-in was installed on your previous version, the previously installed add-in will continue to work. If you are performing a major version update of ArcGIS Pro (for example, 2.x to 3.x), uninstall the add-in before updating ArcGIS Pro, deploy the newest version of the Crime Analysis solution, and install the updated add-in to see the updated ribbon.
