The Military Overlay solution delivers a set of capabilities that help you add geospatial context to plans and establish shared understanding across units by sharing mapping products.
In this topic, you will learn how to use the solution by assuming the role of a user and performing the following workflows.

Use your organization's data or the provided sample data to complete the tasks included in this solution's ArcGIS Pro project.Get started
First, you will download and unzip the either the Military Overlay 2525B change 2 ArcGIS Pro project or the Military Overlay 2525D ArcGIS Pro project. Choose whichever project best suits your organization's needs.
- Sign in to your ArcGIS organization and browse to either the Military Overlay 2525B change 2 or Military Overlay 2525D item.
- From the item page, click Download.
- Unzip the downloaded folder, and then from the unzipped folder, open the ArcGIS Pro project.
- On the View tab, in the Window group, click Catalog Pane.
- In the Catalog pane, expand the Tasks folder.
Note:
If you do not see the Catalog pane, from the View tab, in the Windows group, click Catalog Pane.
- Expand the Tasks folder and then double-click the task group.

The Military Overlay solution includes sample data. The Set up the solution task group will help you remove unwanted sample data from the layers provided and populate those layers with your organization's data.

Create military overlays
Creating military overlays adds an additional visual tool to the mission planning process. After you have created feature templates that match your organizational needs, you will want to begin creating an overlay. The Create military overlays task group will help you populate an overlay with your organization's data.

Share an overlay
Sharing military overlays allows commanders and decision makers to give and receive clear mission directives in a geospatial manner. After you have created your overlay, you will want to share it with others in your organization. The Share an overlay task group will guide you through the sharing process.
