Use AED Inventory

The AED Inventory solution delivers a set of capabilities that help you inventory AEDs, share authoritative AEDs with computer aided dispatch systems or consumer applications, and inform the public.

In this topic, you’ll learn how to use the solution by assuming the role of a user and performing the workflows below.

Note:
Use your organization's data or configured apps to follow these workflows.

Collect defibrillators in the field

In many cases, a field assessment of existing automated external defibrillators (AEDs) may be the most efficient way to develop an AED inventory. The information collected in the field can then be shared with internal stakeholders and the public.

You will assume the role of a mobile worker in a public safety agency. In this workflow, you have been asked to use ArcGIS Survey123 to access your AED Inventory form and inventory defibrillators in your community.

  1. On your mobile device, in ArcGIS Survey123, open the AED Inventory form.
    Tip:

The form can also be accessed from a browser by signing in to your ArcGIS organization, browsing to the AED Inventory form, and choosing to open the form in a browser.

  2. Tap Collect.
  3. Complete the form with as much information as possible.
    Note:

Required information is marked with a red asterisk.

    Tip:

Automated external defibrillators (AEDs) can be inventoried in the office on a desktop computer or in the field from your mobile device. If you allow your browser to access your location while in the field, your current location can also be used to inventory an automated external defibrillator.

  4. Tap the check mark to submit the form, and then tap Send now.
  5. Repeat these steps for each AED.
    Tip:

You can share the URL to the AED Inventory form with your mobile workers so they can access the survey form directly on their device. When they click on the URL, they will be asked to sign in to your ArcGIS organization before completing the survey.

Locate a defibrillator

Communicating automated external defibrillator information helps public safety staff locate the closest defibrillator. The AED Inventory map can be used to communicate automated external defibrillator alternatives and locate one nearby.

Find a defibrillator

You will assume the role of a public safety staff member. In this workflow, you are interested in locating a defibrillator near a given location in a downtown or neighborhood.

  1. Sign in to your ArcGIS organization, and then browse to the AED Inventory solution.
  2. Open the AED Inventory map in Map Viewer.
    Tip:

You can share the URL to the AED Inventory map with your public safety staff so they can access the map directly on their device. When they click on the URL, they will be asked to sign in to your ArcGIS organization before accessing the map.

  3. On the right, in the Settings (light) toolbar, click Search.
    Tip:

If you do not see Search in the toolbar, click Map tools and choose Search.

  4. In the search box, type the location.

The results show any automated external defibrillators in the area.

  5. On the map, click a defibrillator and review the additional details.

If you do not see a defibrillator, zoom out to a larger area.
