Bookmark places (Map Viewer Classic)

Bookmarks provide shortcuts to interesting places on a map. As a map author, you create them based on the current location and scale of the map. When others click a bookmark, the map zooms to that location.

Go to an existing bookmark

  1. Open the map in Map Viewer Classic.
  2. Click Bookmarks Bookmarks and click the name of the place you want the map to zoom to.

Create a new bookmark

  1. Open the map in Map Viewer Classic.
  2. Navigate the map to the location and scale you want to bookmark.
  3. Click Bookmarks Bookmarks, click Add Bookmark, and enter a name for the bookmark.

Update a bookmark

Update a bookmark in any of the following ways:

  • To reorder a bookmark, click Bookmarks Bookmarks and drag the bookmark to the new location in the bookmark list.
  • To rename a bookmark, click Bookmarks Bookmarks, click Edit Edit next to the bookmark you want to rename, and enter a new name.
  • To delete a bookmark, click Bookmarks Bookmarks and click Remove Remove next to the bookmark you want to delete.
