Settings configuration

The settings that you can configure in ArcGIS Earth for mobile are described below.

Units

The Units settings define the display of the following in the app: Location, Distance, Elevation, Speed, and Area. The Location display options are Decimal Degree, Degrees Minutes Seconds, UTM, and MGRS.

Grid

The Grid options to display on the scene for providing reference are Latitude and Longitude, Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM), Military Grid Reference System (MGRS), and US National Grid (USNG).

Location provider

The Location Provider setting sets the active provider of location information from either the integrated provider on the mobile device or an external GNSS receiver that collects high accuracy location to be used in the app. The options are as follows:

  • The default is the integrated location provider of the mobile device.
  • Add location provider—Choose a paired Bluetooth GNSS device that supports the output from National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) sentences. When successfully added, the location information is provided by the connected GNSS device and is used in the app whenever location is requested.
  • View location status—When connecting to an external location provider, view the location status including location details and satellite information by tapping the Satellite button Satellite. The Location details tab lists Latitude, Longitude, Altitude, Accuracy, Fix type, Number of satellites, and Dilution of precision settings. The Satellite information tab shows a visibility diagram and the Signal-to-noise ratio chart.
