A custom template can contain dynamic elements such as a chart or map frame. If such a template is used during the create new report process, the Create New Report pane updates to include the Connect dynamic elements page. This page lists all dynamic elements grouped by report section, however, only the sections that include a dynamic element are listed. Each dynamic element must have its source established before the report can be created or it will be removed when the report is created.
If the data source for a report is not compatible with a dynamic element, such as a map frame and a stand-alone table, a message appears and the dynamic report element will be removed when the report is created. There are three instances when a warning will appear. Refer to the following table to resolve these warnings:
Message displayed | Conditions causing it to appear | How to resolve |
---|---|---|
Dynamic map frames not supported for standalone tables. The report element will be removed. | The chosen template has a map frame in a dynamic subsection (group header, group footer, or details subsections) and the data source for the report section is a stand-alone table. | Change the data source to a type with spatial information, or do nothing and the report element will be removed. |
No maps in the current project. The report element will be removed. | The chosen template has a map frame but the current project does not contain any maps. | Add a map to the project, or do nothing and the report element will be removed. |
No charts associated with data source. The report element will be removed | The chosen template has a chart frame but the data source for the report section does not have a chart associated with it. | Add a chart to the data source, or do nothing and the report element will be removed. |
