You can apply transition effects to presentation pages to animate the transition between pages when presenting. By default, no transition effect is applied when a new page is created.
Choose between the following transition effects for a page. To apply effects to multiple pages, use the Page Properties pane.
- None—No effect is applied. The page appears immediately upon advance. This is the default.
- Swipe—The page appears from a specified direction of the display, covering the previous page. Choose from From Right
, From Left
, From Top
, or From Bottom
.
- Fade
—The page appears gradually, replacing the previous page as it disappears gradually.
- Fly
—The page zooms to a new map location from the previous map location. This transition is available only when consecutive map pages contain the same source map.

Fly between map pages
Use the fly transition to move a map's camera from one location to another along an autogenerated path to highlight two locations in a map used in two consecutive map pages. Use the duration property to change the travel speed of the camera. The fly transition works in both maps and scenes and is better suited for short travel distances or locations at similar scales and elevations. For example, you can use the fly transition to create a series of map pages that visit bridges in a town that require upgrades. The presentation can focus on priority, budget, and community impact as it visits each bridge in the map. This transition is available only when consecutive map pages contain the same source map.
Note:
- The flight path for the fly transition does not have adjustable properties other than duration. If you need to customize the camera flight path, use animations. The exported animation video file can be added as a video page in the presentation.
- You cannot assign a fly transition to a map page if the page is the first page in the presentation or if the preceding page is not a map page. For example, a map page cannot fly from a blank page type.
Preview transition types automatically
You can turn on the Auto Apply toggle button at the bottom of the Page Properties pane to apply property edits as they are made. The presentation page refreshes each time a setting is changed as though the Apply button was clicked. This is an efficient way to preview the transition each time you change it to ensure you have the type you want. Each time you set the transition type, the effect is previewed once. You cannot replay the same transition but you can change to another type and preview it.
