00085: Layer uses an unsupported renderer or property

Web layers support a subset of the renderers and properties available in ArcGIS AllSource. A layer in the map is using a renderer or property that is not supported by the layer type being shared.

Solution

  • Change the layer's renderer so that it uses a supported renderer.
    • Web feature layers do not support the following:
      • Unique value based on multiple fields
      • Chart symbology (all Bar and Stacked charts; Pie charts for line features)
      • Custom renderers
      • Proportional symbols if a map image layer is also being shared
      • Rotation using Tilt (X) or Roll (Y)
      • The following secondary attribute variables:
        • Transparency using a non-Arcade expression value
        • Rotation using a non-Arcade expression value or random
        • Rotation using a field for Tilt (X) or Roll (Y)
        • Size using a non-Arcade expression value or random, or the Classify data option is checked
        • Color using a non-Arcade expression value, or the Classify data option is checked
    • Web tile layers do not support the following:
      • Dictionary
      • Proportional symbols that use a maximum size
      • Symbology with Color or Size secondary attribute variables applied, and the Classify data option checked
      Note:

Heat maps are not supported for web tile layers at ArcGIS Enterprise 10.4.1 and earlier.

    • Vector tile layers do not support the following:
      • Proportional symbols
      • Heat Map
      • Dictionary
      • Representations
      • Symbology with Color or Size secondary attribute variables applied, and the Classify data option checked
    • Web scene layers do not support the following:
    • Map image layers do not support the following:
      • Connected attributes that use an Arcade expression
      • Proportional symbols that use a maximum size
      • Symbology with Color or Size secondary attribute variables applied, and the Classify data option checked (11.2 and earlier versions of ArcGIS Enterprise only)
  • If you are sharing a web feature or tile layer and your active portal is ArcGIS Enterprise or Portal for ArcGIS 10.4 or later, change the layer type to Map Image if the renderer you are using is supported by map image layers.
  • If you are sharing a tile layer that uses proportional symbols with a maximum size, use the Cache locally option instead of caching on the server.
  • Remove the layer if it is not needed.

Additional information

An associated web feature layer is published when you share a web scene layer. The associated web feature layer is used to generate the visualization cache for the web scene layer. Any renderers or properties not supported by web feature layers are not supported by web scene layers.

Connected attributes allow each feature to have its own unique symbol. For more information about attribute-driven symbology, see Attribute-driven symbology.

For more information, see Symbolize feature layers and Analyze your GIS resource.

To share a web scene layer with a procedural symbol, you can use the Layer 3D To Feature Class tool to create a multipatch feature class that can be shared as a web scene layer with the procedural symbol applied as a texture.
