Segment construction tools create contiguous linear and curvilinear segments. They are available on the construction toolbar when a polyline or polygon construction tool is active. The toolbar is also available above the context menu when you right-click a map.

Line | Create straight line segments between vertices by clicking or typing the vertex locations. |
Create straight line segments at 90-degree angles between vertices by clicking or typing the vertex locations.
Create circular arc segments by clicking or typing the location for a start point, a point through which the arc passes that defines the radius, and an endpoint. To specify a numeric radius value, press R.
Create circular arc segments by clicking or typing the location for a start point, an endpoint, and a point through which the arc passes that defines the radius.
Create circular arc segments that are tangent to the previous segment using two points.
Create nonlinear Bézier curved segments using control points and handles to shape the angle and height of the curve.
Create segments that follow another feature by using the pointer to trace the boundary of the feature.
Create free-form segments by streaming vertices with the pointer. Press O to check the Smooth setting and convert the segments to Bézier curves when you finish the feature. |
