You can view and manage geodatabase and feature service replicas using the Manage Replicas pane in ArcGIS AllSource. The Manage Replicas pane displays all replicas in an enterprise geodatabase and their properties.
The method used to create a replica determines the type of replica it is—a geodatabase replica or a feature service replica. The Manage Replicas pane contains a tab for each type of replica.
- Geodatabase Replicas—Geodatabase replicas are explicitly created using the Create Replica or Create Replica from Server geoprocessing tools. See Manage geodatabase replicas for an explanation of the tools and options available on this tab.
- Feature Service Replicas—Feature service replicas are created when you take a feature service offline. See Manage feature service replicas for an explanation of the tools and options available on this tab.
You can open the Manage Replicas pane from a geodatabase to view all replicas in the geodatabase. The image below shows the Manage Replicas pane opened from an enterprise geodatabase connection named P_GDB@gis.sde.
Alternatively, you can open the Manage Replicas pane from a feature class or table to see all the replicas the dataset participates in. The image below shows the Manage Replicas pane opened from the GIS.Parks feature class. The image shows lists of the geodatabase replicas and feature service replicas in which the GIS.Parks dataset participates.
Open the Manage Replicas pane
You can use the Manage Replicas pane to see all the replicas in an enterprise geodatabase or to see all the replicas that a specific feature class or table participates in.
Use one of the following methods to access all the replicas in an enterprise geodatabase:
- Open the Manage Replicas pane from the Catalog view using the Manage Replicas button
- Open Manage Replicas pane from the Catalog pane using the Distributed Geodatabase context menu
To access all the replicas that a specific feature class or table participates in, open the Manage Replicas pane from the feature class or table's context menu.
Use the Manage Replicas button to view replicas for a geodatabase
Follow the steps below to open the Manage Replicas pane for an enterprise geodatabase from the Catalog view in ArcGIS AllSource:
- Open a catalog view.
See Use catalog views for instructions.
- Double-click Databases in the Catalog view and select or add a connection to an enterprise geodatabase.
Once a database connection is selected, the contextual Manage tab becomes active.
- Click the Manage Replicas button to open the Manage Replicas pane.
Use the Distributed Geodatabase context menu to view replicas for a geodatabase
Use the Distributed Geodatabase context menu in the Catalog pane in ArcGIS AllSource to open the Manage Replicas pane for an enterprise geodatabase or a dataset.
- In the Catalog pane, connect to the enterprise geodatabase.
- Right-click the database connection, point to Distributed Geodatabase, and click Manage Replicas .
The Manage Replicas pane appears.
View replicas for a feature class or table
To see a list of replicas that a specific feature class or table belongs to, use these steps to open the Manage Replicas pane from the dataset context menu in ArcGIS AllSource:
- In the Catalog pane, connect to the enterprise geodatabase.
- Expand the database connection, right-click a feature class or table, and click Manage Replicas on the context menu.
The Manage Replicas pane appears.
This example shows the GIS.Parks feature class in the P_GDB geodatabase participates in four geodatabase replicas.
