The first step in creating a military symbol is to search for the base symbol. This is done on the Military Overlay Create/Edit tab using Symbol Search or Symbol Identification Code.
Search for a symbol by keyword
Search for symbols using terms and keywords for the desired base symbol. For example, to create a tank, use terms such as "tracked", "armor", or "tank". Several symbols may be tagged with the same keywords, so the results will show a list of suggested symbols.
- Open Military Overlay.
- Type search terms or keywords in Symbol Search.
Search results are shown in a selection box. If there are no results, try similar search terms.

- Select the desired symbol from the search results list.
Search for a symbol by Symbol Identification Code
To search for a symbol identification code, paste the code into Symbol Identification Code or Symbol Search and follow these steps:
- Open Military Overlay.
- Type or paste the full symbol identification code in Symbol Identification Code or Symbol Search.
A correct symbol identification code will show the symbol in the preview. An incorrect code will not change the preview.
After the desired base symbol is found, the next step is to customize the symbol with text modifiers and graphic modifiers.
