The following are some frequently asked questions that map authors often have about Navigator.

Does Navigator consume ArcGIS Online credits?

No, Navigator does not consume ArcGIS Online credits.

Can I create custom navigation maps that can be used in Navigator?

Yes. In ArcGIS Pro 1.2 or later, you can create navigation maps with custom roads and transportation network datasets, geocoding locators and features, and map displays that can be used in Navigator. In ArcGIS Pro 1.4 or later, you can also create custom travel modes to include in your navigation maps and use feature editing templates. You'll package your custom navigation map into a mobile map package (.mmpk) that can be shared with your ArcGIS organizational account or downloaded directly to your mobile device. Navigator only supports mobile map packages, so all maps used in the app must be packaged this way. Which licenses do I need to work with navigation maps?

This depends on whether you want to use an Esri-provided navigation map as it is, create your own navigation map with entirely your own data, or modify an Esri-provided navigation map. You may also need additional licenses depending on how much you want to modify an Esri navigation map. The following are the answers to this question based on use case:

How do I configure Navigator for ArcGIS licenses?

All members of an ArcGIS organization can download and install Navigator for ArcGIS. However, the app will not function unless the member is signed in and the account has been configured with a license. The administrator of the organization assigns and manages Navigator licenses. If you have an ArcGIS Online account, see About Navigator for ArcGIS licensing in the ArcGIS Online help for details. If you have a Portal for ArcGIS account, first configure Navigator for ArcGIS licenses for your organization. Then, see Overview of configuring support for Navigator in the Portal for ArcGIS help.

How do I make custom navigation maps available to map users?

Use your ArcGIS organizational account to share custom navigation maps with mobile workers, so when they sign in to Navigator, they can download those maps to their devices to use offline. You can do this by using the Share Package geoprocessing tool in ArcGIS Pro. When using this tool, you can share publically, with only your organization, or with members of a group. You can also update who the map is shared with by signing in to your ArcGIS organizational account. For your mobile workers to use the map in Navigator, it must be shared with them. How can I give feedback on the app?

Can my users open Navigator from my emails, websites, or apps?

Yes. By using the custom URL scheme in your app, website, or email, your users can open Navigator. Specify a destination and Navigator shows a route, or populate other data in the app, such as a route starting point or custom travel mode.
