Create and publish listings

Listings allow you to promote your products to potential customers. They are the main way that consumers discover your offerings. Although you are not required to fill out every field, the more information you provide, the easier it will be for prospects to decide if your offering is what they need. Consumers will want to see screen captures, videos, details on pricing and support, and a great description of the value that your offering brings to them. The fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required on the Overview tab.

Listings are also your primary marketing tool, so it's important that you take the time to create an attractive-looking listing. This is especially true for items such as product logos, banner images, screen captures, and ad images. You may want to hire a designer to help you create a great looking graphic that conveys the value your offering delivers.

Follow the steps below to create and publish a listing:

  1. From the details page of the app (in the Content page), click the Settings tab.
  2. Under General Settings, click Create Listing button that appears under the Marketplace section.

    An unpublished (private) listing appears on your Console page of ArcGIS Marketplace. The listing contains overview information from the app details and provider information from your organization.

  3. Review the information on the Provider tab. If you want to update the contact information, reconfigure the Marketplace settings of your organization. The updates are applied to all listings in your organization; you cannot edit information on a specific Provider tab.
  4. Update any of the following information on the Overview tab:

  5. Click Save to save your listing information.

    Your listing now appears in the Listings section of the Console page.

  6. Click Publish when you are ready to make your app publically accessible from ArcGIS Marketplace. The publish option only appears on the listing page when you are signed in to ArcGIS Marketplace with your administrator account.
  7. Click Unpublish to remove or temporarily hide your listing from public access.

Product information

Change any of the following policy settings as needed:

  • Banner—Upload a PNG, GIF, or JPG image for the listing page, with 1 MB maximum file size. Allocated space is 1220x320 pixels.
  • Title*—Insert a proper title for your listing.
  • Summary*—Enter a summary of your listing. The summary is shared between the listing and the details in ArcGIS Online.
    Note:

    This appears on the search results page.

  • Description*—Enter a description of your listing. The description is shared between the listing and the details in ArcGIS Online.
    Note:

    This appears in the Overview page of a listing.

Custom requests

Allow users to send customized requests for your listing. Enabling this option allows a user to send you requirements, such as area of interest. Once the request has been sent, you will work with the user to provide them access to the requested item via bundling. You have the option to mark a listing as custom content the first time this listing is saved.

You can tailor the message that a user will see when they initiate a custom request.

Note:

This option is only available with listings that are licensed by member; trials are not supported.

Bundling

If an app requires supporting data services to function to its full potential, you can bundle supporting data services along with the listing. Any ArcGIS hosted layers (features, tile, scenes) can be bundled with the app. Once a consumer makes a purchase and licenses are assigned, the supporting data service will be automatically granted and assigned members can start using the app.

You can also create data bundles allowing you to sell groups of hosted data services (feature, tile, scene) as a single listing. Once an item is purchased, you can assign a member a license or share the purchased app item to a group. This will allow access to all the data layers in the bundle.

Note:

To see the bundle items option, save the listing and click Edit. On the Overview page of the listing, you'll see the option to add bundles.

Pricing and messaging

Change any of the following policy settings as needed:

  • License type—Choose from Free, Paid (License by Member), or Paid (License by Organization). If paid, you have the option to add a trial version with a specified duration.
  • Provide trial offer—Check the box to enable a trial version of your listing, and choose a trial duration.
    Note:

    For trial by member, you are automatically given five licenses for a configured trial period.

  • Trial duration—Enter the number of days a consumer has access to a trial.
  • Pricing details—Enter the pricing details for your app or content listing such as price per user or duration of subscription.
  • Purchase request instructions—If there are any specific instructions when it comes to purchasing a listing.
  • Terms and conditions*—Enter any terms and conditions consumers need to agree to before using your app or data. When consumers request a listing, they see terms and conditions from you and Esri. Terms and conditions do not appear in the overview of the listing.
  • Show app store badges—Click on the app store badges from which your app is available.
  • Message to purchaser*—Enter a message that you would like a user to receive about upon purchasing your app. This message will override the default message that is sent out by ArcGIS Marketplace.
    Note:

    Customized messages will appear in English. They will not be translated.

  • Message to assigned user*—Enter a message that users will receive when they are assigned License. This message will override the default message that is sent out by ArcGIS Marketplace.

  • Message to Trial User—Enter post trial request messaging that you would like the trial user of this listing to receive. This could include important details regarding installation, getting support, and best practices.

Contact information

Change any of the following policy settings as needed:

  • Phone—Provide a contact phone number for users to reach you.
  • Email—Provide an email for users.
  • Website—Provide your companies website.

Note:

When you update this information, it will take several minutes to show up on all of your listings.

Technical details

Change any of the following policy settings as needed:

  • Version*—By default, 1.0 appears as the version. You can update this information, for example, change to a date (September 2013) or to a different version number (1.2).
  • System requirements*—Enter any system requirements for using your app or data, for example, operating system or browser version, with a 500-character limit. If you want to provide additional information, enter it in the description field or include a hyperlink.
  • Platform*—Check the platforms used to develop your app. The platform is shared between the listing and the details in ArcGIS Online.
  • Languages*—Select one or more languages used in your app.
  • Type of support offered*—Enter information about the type of support you provide.
    Note:

    To embed a hyperlink, specify an HTML link, and use the format <a href="www.yourwebsite.com">Your website</a>.

Categorization

Change any of the following policy settings as needed:

  • Industries*—Select up to five industry focus areas if your listing targets a specific market, for example, aid and development or insurance.
  • Categories*—Select up to five categories that describe your listing, for example, data visualization or field use.
  • Tags*—Enter tags that describe your listing. Tags are shared between the listing and the details in ArcGIS Online.
    Tip:

    We recommend adding multiple tags, this will improve your listings search results for users.

Branding images

Upload up to two PNG, GIF, or JPG thumbnail images of your listing. Images must match set sizes and be in PNG, JPG, or GIF format.

  • Large Thumbnail—This appears as your ad image in the search results. Keep image size 286x190.

  • Thumbnail—Appears as your item icon on the details view and item page. Keep image size 200x133 for best results.

  • Apps Thumbnail—This image will override the default icon that appears in the Apps Menu. This is a good opportunity to add a company logo. Keep image size to 48x48.

Overview screen captures and video

Upload up to four PNG, GIF, or JPG images for the overview page, with 1 MB maximum file size (per image). Allocated space (per image) is 960x540 pixels.

If you have content rights for a YouTube video you own, you can enter the YouTube ID to embed a video demonstration of your product. A YouTube ID is automatically generated when you upload the video. If you are not the creator or owner of the content, you must own or control exclusive online streaming rights for the content you submit in the territories in which you assert rights. Related items

Check the box if you want to associate multiple items with this listing. If this option is selected, you can associate items with this listing from either the console or the saved listing page.
