Esri Maps for SharePoint 4.1 is now available.

4.1 updates

Esri Maps for SharePoint version 4.1 includes the following updates and enhancements:

  • Localization support for the following languages: Arabic, Chinese (simplified), Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal), Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Thai, Turkish, and Vietnamese.

Note: The ArcGIS Map web part is built on Silverlight 3.1 and, as such, may not support all the languages listed above.

  • Multiple bug fixes and improvements.

Note: Because Esri Maps for SharePoint 4.1 is a localization and bug fix release, the online help for version 4.1 also applies to version 4.0.

Important: Because of web technology trends, the ArcGIS Maps Silverlight web part will be deprecated after this release. The Esri Maps JavaScript web part contains many enhanced features not available in the ArcGIS Maps Silverlight web part. It is recommended that you use the Esri Maps JavaScript web part in place of the ArcGIS Maps Silverlight web part—you will no longer be able to add new ArcGIS Map Silverlight web parts to site pages. To continue using your existing ArcGIS Maps Silverlight web parts, upgrade all sites containing the ArcGIS Maps Silverlight web part to Esri Maps for SharePoint 4.0 or later and save the pages. You'll then be able continue using the ArcGIS Maps Silverlight web parts seamlessly.

4.0 updates

Esri Maps for SharePoint 4.0 was released in July 2015 and included the following new features. Many aspects of installation and configuration have changed in this release; please review the System Requirements and Configuration help topics carefully.

  • Support for SharePoint Online
  • Allow guests to view the Esri Maps Web Part with limited functionality, without having to sign in
  • Portal for ArcGIS 10.3 and 10.3.1 support
  • Work with common Portal for ArcGIS configurations (OAuth, SAML, IWA, PKI, LDAP)
  • Work with Portal for ArcGIS in a disconnected environment
  • Support for geographical data enrichment
  • New tools added to the Esri Maps Web Part: print, measure, edit (add, modify, and delete features), filter layer, and auto-refresh SharePoint Layers
  • New Map Contents configuration options for the Esri Maps Web Part
  • Esri Maps Location field is now built with JavaScript (instead of Silverlight) and enables viewing on mobile devices
  • Esri Maps Location field provides a search box to look up addresses, places, and coordinates
  • Use the coordinate system of your choice with the Esri Maps Location field and easily overlay other GIS datasets that are in your local coordinate system
  • Extensibility: Create custom tools, behaviors, and custom symbol sets for the Esri Maps Web Part
  • Better error handling and various bug fixes
  • Various user interface improvements, creating a new look and feel

Important: Because of web technology trends, the ArcGIS Maps Silverlight web part will be deprecated after the Esri Maps for SharePoint v4.0 release.
