Esri Maps administration settings

Before Esri Maps for SharePoint 4.0, settings were contained in two different locations: the Esri Maps Configuration Files library and the Esri Maps for SharePoint Administration settings. All settings have now been moved to the Esri Maps for SharePoint Administration section on the Site Settings page of your SharePoint site. These settings require administrator permissions to access and modify. The following sections detail each of the settings contained in the Esri Maps for SharePoint Administration.

App configuration

The App Configuration setting is new with Esri Maps for SharePoint 4.0. It is divided into two settings: App Configuration and Guest Access. In both settings, you specify the credentials (user name and password) used to generate an OAuth app ID and secret. The app ID is used to identify Esri Maps apps and can be used for tracking.

The App Configuration app ID and secret are used for the credits required by the Esri Maps Locate and Connect workflows and the Esri Maps Location field. This setting must be configured before using Esri Maps for SharePoint.

The Guest access app ID and secret are used to allow members to view maps without signing in to ArcGIS. Guest users have limited access to the Esri Maps Web Part. In addition to viewing SharePoint content and shared ArcGIS content that has been added to the map, guest users can pan and zoom the map, turn layers on and off, and view pop-ups, but most functionality is restricted to viewing only. To fully interact with the map, users must sign in to ArcGIS using a named user account. The Guess access setting is optional.
