The Portland, Oregon Metro office wants to share their imagery with the Portland community. First, though, they need to get organized. Help the GIS office manage their collections of preprocessed orthophotos by using the Managing Preprocessed Orthophotos workflow tools to create mosaic datasets.
The Try It Out section will cover these tasks:
- Walk you through how to set up your workflow tools
- Demonstrate how to use the tools in both ArcMap and command line environments using sample data from Portland
- Show you how to adapt the workflow to your own data
About the sample data
Try out this workflow using the provided sample data depicting the region around Portland, Oregon, in the northwestern United States, from 2005 and 2010.
Sample imagery from 2005 is in County Compressed Mosaic (CCM) format (also typical of the USDA NAIP program). This common orthophoto format provides data for each county in a single file, but also contains irregular black edges that can pose data management problems. Sample imagery from 2010 is formatted as edge-matched tiles.
