Setup

To get started with the Managing Browse Imagery workflow, download and set up the script and sample data.

Download workflow files

  1. Download the BrowseImageryScripts zip file.
  2. Right-click the file and extract it to your preferred location, like C:\Image_Mgmt_Workflows\. Make sure the paths are as follows:

    • C:\Image_Mgmt_Workflows\BrowseImagery\Batchfiles\
    • C:\Image_Mgmt_Workflows\BrowseImagery\Documentation\
    • C:\Image_Mgmt_Workflows\BrowseImagery\Logs\
    • C:\Image_Mgmt_Workflows\BrowseImagery\MD\
    • C:\Image_Mgmt_Workflows\BrowseImagery\Parameter\
    • C:\Image_Mgmt_Workflows\BrowseImagery\scripts\
    • C:\Image_Mgmt_Workflows\BrowseImagery\Initialize_Script_Paths.bat\
  3. Download the BrowseImagerySampleDataDownload zip file.
  4. Right-click the file and extract it to …\BrowseImagery\. Make sure the paths are as follows:
    • C:\Image_Mgmt_Workflows\BrowseImagery\Data\Portland_DigitalGlobe
    • C:\Image_Mgmt_Workflows\BrowseImagery\Data\Portland_Geoeye
    • C:\Image_Mgmt_Workflows\BrowseImagery\Data\Portland_Landsat

Prepare your workflow scripts

This process will set all the file paths in the workflow to your version of ArcGIS.

  1. In the ...\BrowseImagery folder, double-click the Initialize_Script_Paths.bat file. Click Run if prompted.
  2. Once complete, hit any key to exit the Command Prompt window.

Note:

After this step, a file called Reset_Script_Paths.bat will be created. Double-click this file if you need to reset the scripts to their original state (if the project folder is being moved to a different location, for example).

You are now set up to try out the Managing Browse Imagery workflow scripts using sample data. In the next section, learn how to use the included batch scripts to automate management of browse imagery.
