Add metrics

Add metrics (up to 24) to show progress or track other measurable aspects of a project. Editors can manage metrics and see all metrics in the workspace, regardless of visibility. You can feature up to four metrics for visitors to see on the primary overview pane of the project view. More metrics can be made visible, to appear in a separate pane on project view.

Note:

While project editors can control which metrics appear on project view and which are only visible in the workspace, metrics will match the sharing level of the project (hidden metrics may still be accessible in API calls).

  1. On the project view, select the Edit button edit to go to the workspace.
  2. On the Metrics pane, you can edit, show or hide existing metrics or select metrics to feature on the overview.
  3. Select Add metric to add a new metric; enter a title and for Source, select Dynamic or Static.
  4. For Dynamic sources, choose Select content, select a dataset, and choose Add. Select Layer / table and for Attribute, choose a field from the dataset.
  5. For Aggregation, choose the type of operation to perform on the selected field.
    • For text and date fields, choose count, minimum, or maximum.
    • For number fields, choose count, minimum, maximum, sum, average, standard deviation, or variance.
  6. To add an additional (optional) filter, turn on Attribute filter; select Add filter and choose an attribute, filter type and value(s) (will vary depending on field type).
  7. For Static sources, select the Type of value and enter a Value.
    • Select Number if the value only includes numeric values or decimal points (thousands separators are automatically applied).
    • Select Text for all other values.
  8. Enter the units to show and choose their placement.
  9. For Dynamic sources, enter Trailing text, if needed. If you turn on Display source link, a link will appear on the live site that goes to the dataset’s item details page.
  10. For Static sources, enter Trailing text, Link URL and text, if needed.
  11. Under Sharing, if you enable sharing, users can copy a direct link to the metric.
  12. Select Save.
