Open in ArcGIS Pro

Drone2Map is a powerful tool for generating GIS ready products from drone images. Users can then leverage these products throughout the ArcGIS platform. The Open in ArcGIS Pro tool provides the ability to easily open your 2D and 3D products directly in ArcGIS Pro.

Open Drone2Map project in ArcGIS Pro

To open a Drone2Map project in ArcGIS Pro, complete the following steps:

  1. Open the project in Drone2Map.
  2. On the home ribbon, click the Open in ArcGIS Pro button.
  3. Choose the location and file name of your ArcGIS Pro project and click Create.

    Drone2Map creates an ArcGIS Pro project in the user defined location. A dialogue window notifies the user when the project is created. Click Ok to continue.

Working in ArcGIS Pro

You are notified the ArcGIS Pro is created. When you click Ok to continue, the project opens in ArcGIS Pro.

Opening your project

You can expect the following behavior depending on the state of ArcGIS Pro:

  • If ArcGIS Pro is already open without an active project, the new project will open automatically.
  • If an active project is currently open in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Pro may attempt to close the active project to open the new project fromDrone2Map.
  • If ArcGIS Pro is not open, it will launch ArcGIS Pro and the project will open in a new ArcGIS Pro session.

Basemap

When your Drone2Map project opens in ArcGIS Pro, it opens with the same basemap that was active in Drone2Map. However, if you are using a custom basemap in Drone2Map, ArcGIS Pro defaults to the world imagery with labels basemap.

Drone2Map Products

Your Drone2Map project includes 2D and 3D products. These products are displayed in the appropriate ArcGIS Pro Map or Scene view.

Note:

It may be necessary to right click one of the layers in the ArcGIS Pro table of contents and click Zoom to Layer to center the display on the project.

2D Products

When the ArcGIS Pro project is created, the 2D Products are added to a new map, which displays data in two dimensions. This includes the following products:

  • Image points
  • Flight lines
  • Contours
  • Orthomosaic
  • DTM
  • DTM Hillshade
  • DSM
  • DSM Hillshade

3D Products

When the ArcGIS Pro project is created, the 3D Products are added to a new local scene, which displays data in three dimensions. This includes the following products:

  • Image points
  • Flight lines
  • Contours
  • 3D textured mesh
  • Point cloud
