Data Appliance overview

The following five product options are available with Data Appliance 6.4 for ArcGIS:

  • Data Appliance for ArcGIS World Basic—Comprises two collections of four 8-terabyte (TB) drives total: Collection A includes all 2D map cache and imagery services available on Data Appliance at small and medium scales down to 1:72k (Level [L] 13), where available, delivered as two 8 TB drives; Collection B includes 2D and 3D elevation image services, geoprocessing services, and the World Places Locator delivered as two 8 TB drives.
  • Data Appliance for ArcGIS World Standard—Comprises three collections of twenty-one 8 TB drives total: Collection B includes 2D and 3D elevation image services, geoprocessing services, and the World Places Locator delivered as two 8 TB drives; Collection C includes all 2D map cached services (excluding World Imagery) with small through large scales down to 1:1k (L19), where available, delivered as eleven 8 TB drives; Collection D includes World Imagery with content for the world to 1:1k, but with limited availability from 1:9k to 1:1k (L16–L19), delivered as eight 8 TB drives.
  • Data Appliance for ArcGIS World Advanced—Comprises three collections of thirty-five 8 TB drives total: Collection B includes 2D and 3D elevation image services, geoprocessing services, and the World Places Locator delivered as two 8 TB drives; Collection C includes all 2D map cached services (excluding World Imagery) with small through large scales down to 1:1k (L19), where available, delivered as eleven 8 TB drives; Collection E includes World Imagery with content for the world to 1:282 (L21), where available, delivered as twenty-two 8 TB drives.
  • Data Appliance for ArcGIS North America Standard—Comprises three collections of fourteen 8 TB drives total: Collection B includes 2D and 3D elevation image services, geoprocessing services, and the World Places Locator delivered as two 8 TB drives; Collection F includes all 2D map cached services (excluding World Imagery) with small through large scales with content for North America down to 1:1k (L19) where available delivered as seven 8 TB drives; Collection G includes World Imagery with content for North America to 1:1k, but with limited availability from 1:9k to 1:1k (L16–L19), delivered as five 8 TB drives.
  • Data Appliance for ArcGIS North America Advanced—Comprises three collections of twenty-one 8 TB drives total: Collection B includes 2D and 3D elevation image services, geoprocessing services, and the World Places Locator delivered as two 8 TB drives; Collection F includes all 2D map cached services (excluding World Imagery) with small through large scales with content for North America down to 1:1,000 (L19), where available, delivered as seven 8 TB drives; Collection H includes World Imagery with content for North America where available to 1:282 (L21) delivered as twelve 8 TB drives.

New at 6.4 are the Esri Vector Basemaps for ArcGIS Enterprise, an additional set of basemaps in vector tile format and available with most options described above (ships separately).

Each Data Appliance product option is composed of two or three collections as shown in the following table:

The collections are composed of the following contents:

  • Collection A—Contains World Basic basemaps and reference maps including World Imagery Basic (down to ~1:72k).
  • Collection B—Includes World Elevation and Geoprocessing services, and World Places Locator. This collection is available with all product options.
  • Collection C—Includes basemaps and reference maps for World Standard and Advanced product options.
  • Collection D—Contains World Imagery Standard basemap.
  • Collection E—Contains World Imagery Advanced basemap.
  • Collection F—Includes basemaps and reference maps for North America Standard and Advanced product options.
  • Collection G—Contains North America Imagery Standard basemap.
  • Collection H—Contains North America Imagery Advanced basemap.

As illustrated in the following coverage map, worldwide coverage is provided in World Standard and World Advanced (down to the largest scale available) and World Basic (down to ~1:72k); regional coverage is provided in North America Standard and North America Advanced (down to the largest scale available). North America coverage includes United States outlying territories.
