Import legacy items

Getting started

After Signing in go to the Maps tab. If this is the first time you are logging in to this version, a panel of slides will introduce you to Projects.

Introducing Projects!

In the last slide, you will be presented with the option to Import your work from the previous version now, or to start working without importing.

Import items now

The following steps will guide you as you import items created with the previous version of Community Analyst.

If you click Get started without importing, you may still import your items later, by clicking the Import Legacy items link in the Project Manager.

Import legacy items

  1. Click Import items now.

The Import My Content Items dialog opens.

  2. From the Import My Content Items dialog, choose from the following options:
    • Include all my items and import them into a project - Imports all my items from your My Content in the previous version into a project here. If you select this option, you will then simply click Import to start the import process.

This may take a while if you had many items in My Content. It is not recommended if you have more than 1000 items to import.

    • Select the items you would like to import - You select the items to that you want to import.

Selecting the second option will bring up a view of your content. On the left is a list of items in My Content in the previous (legacy) version. The My Sites tab is selected initially. On the right is a view of what your project will look like after you have imported the selected items.

    Import selected items
    • Selecting a folder or individual site by its checkboxes will add it to the list of items selected for import.
    • Select the Hide items that have been imported previously checkbox, which means that if you have already previously imported an item from the legacy version, it will not appear in the view on the right, and will not be included for import in this selection.
    • The default name for the new project is My Project, but you may change that by clicking Rename. Here, you can rename My Project.

  3. Click Business Points and Imported Points tab to view a list of your Business Points layers and Imported Points layers respectively in the legacy version. They will appear under the Other Layers section.

  4. After making all your selections, click Import.

A progress bar will appear, tracking the progress of the items selected for import. Click Stop Import to stop the import at any time.

Stop Import will not undo items already imported by that point.
